went to the point with rolland tues, a first for me as i just recently got a 4x4, it was a great experience. had the time of my life (after it stopped raining). a few big blues early in the am then just sharks after that, but just being at the point was an experience. the guys we met were very friendly (guess we didnt break any of the rules) but i couldnt believe the fellows that walked out on the bar thru neck high water just to get out there in the deep water (not me!). will definitly go out there again.

I hit the point all year. Drum in the spring and fall, stripers in the winter, and spanish and sharks all summer. It's always a wild time.

Beyond all that we have caught fish there that blew my mind. It's always something different.

I want to post "You must be kidding?" But I am sure that you are serious. Too deep for me. I don't mind a 3'-4' deep slough to walk through; but neck deep. Pelican man.

Never used to go to th point, heard th stories an was scared. Started going to th point with friends met here an on other boards an found it not nearly as bad as I had heard. But, I would rather sit on a beach with a truck 50 yards away than 10 stacked up on top of me so I pick an choose my times to fish th point.

Hey guys,

I got a couple questions for ya, hope they ain't too stupid questions:

What, or where is the point?

What's the stories heard walking through the neck high water? Rip tide?

thanks

The point is the actual Cape at Cape Hatteras, basically a long point that thrusts out into the ocean, creates a hook on the south side, and the north side and directly off the point is a place of strong currents that attracts all kinds of fish, especially drum, stripers, cobia, and biter sharks. The wading is because Izzy shaped it such that to reach the outermost bar where the fish are at low tide, you have to wade across channels that are about 3-4-5 feet deep

Thanks bluerunner. I'm good to go. I gotta get down there to that area and try the fishing.
