FRIDAY Did a marathon 13 hour trip targeting red/black drum on friday. fished bouy 13, and the 9ft shoal, nothing but skates/sharks quit drummin around lunch and tried the flounder, but they didnt cooperate so we investigated all the boats anchored up casting at the 4th. 2nd cast my buddy jim gets a 29" grey trout, then I get a small striper, then nothing, then my buddy gets a spade on a jig (hooked in the back). Went from there over to the high rise and got about 100 grey trout in the 9-14" range (vertical jigging every cast yielded fish) I would say 1 in 20 were keeper size 12".
on the fish finder the school started 14' down and went all the way to the bottom at 50'. after all that we fished the inner middle grounds and bouy 13 again for drum till dark but it was not happenin.
SATURDAY Fished around the ches. light tower for seabass. I had one of those rare (for me) days when everything goes wrong, rotted line, snaggs, tangles just all around bad day I got one or two undersized bass, my dad got four fish in the 2.5-3lb range. overall very slow with mostly undersize fish, one guy did get a nice 4.5LB fish. thats it ..I couldnt bring myself to fish on sunday.
