That Kontiki looks like something from a James Bond movie. It looks like that motor just takes your line out and then turns its self off and stays out there. It would suck to get a big bite and break off with that on the end of your line. That is an expensive sinker at $$1500. The kites look cool.

would be nice if you could rig-it so that your main line, with your bait could some how disconnect and drop to the bottom and just retrieve the Kontiki back to shore.

What if you attached the Kontiki to some 250lb dacron on the Huge reel they have on thier site. You could screw a downrigger release to the Kontiki, and put your fishing line with bait and weight in the release. When the Konkiki gets out 700 yards you could give the fishing line a few good yanks to pop the rigger release and then just reel the konkiki back in. This would also allow you to set multiple baits at different distances if you attached multiple rigger releases to the kontiki. Still a little rich for my blood, but definately cool.

reeling in 700 meters of line sounds like a lot of fun!!!!
$1500 Kiwi is only about $1000 US. Dirt Cheap! HA! You could always get a used sit on top for a lot cheaper.
