Bring it on home........ The seas out of OI this AM were smooth with a rolling ESE swell. We set out our spread just inshore of our waypoint as we discovered a nice grassline running E to W. It wasn't long before we had some nibbles, and the day looked promising. I was admiring the bird/ 'Pink Nightmare' combo when from the direction of the grassline a large black streak accelerated to the bait and swirled around displaying what I thought to be the dorsal fin of a Sailfish!! Moments passed and I then worked the bait hoping to entice a strike from the predator. Another moment whirlpooled into the past, and then the starboard long rigger popped with conviction. The drag screeched for 3 seconds and then the beast was gone. Another bite and a Mahi in the boat to avoid the skunk. Then, in the 81* prisitine Gulf water, a lost 30lbs. YFT graced us with his presence as Ted landed his 1st ever Tuna. WAY TO GO TED!!! So, our string of lucky firsts continues and we troll S in the flattening sea and bright sunshine. It was like Lake Atlantic on the surface, perfect for water skiing, and the swivels could be seen dragging in the water occaisionally like tracers to our baits. Not prime conditions, but a beautiful day to fish nonetheless. We enjoyed a few flurries of activity and then discovered a grassline running almost to Hatteras. We are now near the Diamond Shoals light and working the line NNE then back SSW. The conditions are so nice we are able to stand on the 'ReelEscape' hardtop and peer into the cobalt blue water. There is a plethora of life; this is it, the beggining of the chain. Plankton, miniscule creatures, fishes of all sizes, baby flyer's, and then Mahi by the droves. >>>ONTO part 2 of part 3 'cause the computer doesn't like me
