...what do you think of turning "Hot Spots" into a wiki? I have everything from NJ to NC covered fairly well, but the other states are pretty much just lists of piers and phone numbers. Turning those other states into wikis could turn the knowledge of this group against each of the regions and spots.
(for those of you who don't know, this (http://wiki.org/wiki.cgi?WhatIsWiki) is what a wiki is)

Flea, would wiki pages only be updatable by P&S registered users :), or would anonymous users have access? :(

can't fish--a wiki is updateable by anyone, though I'd like to figure out a way to have it only be worked on by members. Any technorati on here care to help out?
Either way, any stupidity that gets inserted gets cleaned up by people passing through. The end result is actually pretty good and pretty accurate.

I give it a Two Thumbs Down. Because it would be a cluster waiting to happen. A moderator should be able to read the change and approve it before the post goes through otherwise a mess will occur(at least it would alow the BS monitor to go off first.

I have seen what folks can and will do to a perfectly good fishing board when they can post anonymous.. From what I can gather from the "Wicki Thing"(correct me if wrong) that is what it would be with any outsider being able to post at will without logging in.. JMO

The anonymous ability to post brings out the bad in some people.

I vote for it, only if it's possible to limit it to only registered and "traceable" users.

I sure hope a P&S user's manual to help me keep up with all the changes taking place is in the works.
With all due respect of course Sandflea.

Here's a Kayak fishing site that you can see how a wiki works.
Salt Water Kayak Fishing Equipment (http://www.kayakforum.com/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/guille/wiki.pl?Salt_Water_Fishing)
Go to the bottom of the page click "Edit this page" and edit away. Keep in mind, this isn't anonymous. If you edit it, you're IP address will show up.
I think it'll be fun. Technogeeks have been using them for years on creating open source documentation and other fun geeky stuff. Just keep an eye out for spammers. Most wiki's are not anonymous as they will show the editor's IP.
Here's another page that give more history of the 'wiki'.

Go ahead Sand Flea and start a trial page up to see how it works.

If it turns into something like Angler of the Month, just kill it.
