Thanks for lOOking in fishing fiends... Journeyed out of OI with Capt. Paul on Monday in search of some pelagics. We had some boat repairs to make in the morning and were able to get up and running at around 9AM thanks to the trusty Shop-Vac.. The ride out was smooth and fast as there was virtually no wind or wave action. We set a course for an area near The Point and dropped our 8 lines in at around 10:30am... It wasn't too long before we had some visitors, but nothing came tight for us initially... We suspect Bill's due to the baits being trashed, but no real bites. We were running 2 flats, 2 shorts, 2 WWTFB's, a deep, and the Spreader Bar... It was at around 11:30am in 500 fathoms of 82.4* water that we had 'Wally' Wahoo come a callin'... Capt. Paul did a nice job of landing the beast which was lit-up in an electric blue not too unlike a neon sign. Beautiful!!! It was surprising we had him to the boat since he was hooked up on the leaderless Sea Witch we were running WWWWTFB.... After a nice battle and a head shot, a 35lbs. 'Wally' was onboard the 'Widespread Panic'... Got a photo and kept at it until our next bite produced a very lost YFT of around 25lbs. He hit the naked short rigger also out in the deep. Saw lots of huge splashes out there and then an awesome Manta Ray that lept a good height from the water and completely turned over landing upside down in the cobalt blue. AWESOME!!!!! He must have been 10ft. from tip to tip... Also saw some LARGE sharks and a few Mola Mola.... Had to get in early and so we picked up and flew in at around 1:30pm.... Got the boat cleaned up and fish iced down and even managed a cold shower before heading back towards VA to catch the Hampton Phish show... Somehow made it back, got parked, and met up with some friends before showtime for some pre-game partying. The show itself was good and it had been 5 or more years since my last visit to the coliseum and seeing Phish. It brought back a flood of memories which I thoroughly enjoyed. Got our groove on at the show and at around midnite we met up with our buddy at Bass Pro for our journey back to the boat in NC for another day of fishing..... Caught a couple of hours of sleep in the truck, and then were underway again by 6:30am.... THANKS to Paul I was able to go fishing, Phishing, and fishing...... Good Stuff. Fish On
Laughing so hard, the devil gets scared....
