Homemade lure question.

A while back at a sports store, a fellow fisherman described a homemade lure he uses consisting of a tinsled pipe cleaner wrapped around a long shank hook, and then covered by a short piece of straw.

Does anyone care to share their experience with this type of lure?

sounds like a version of the gold hook/straw rig used from piers to catch spanish, blues, pompano and various bait fishes. THey work really well, i usually tie about 6 in. Actually caught two spanish at once on a similar rig tied with gold hooks with mylar tied on.
