Fortunately I grew up in South Florida in the 60's where kids could jump on the bikes and fish with dough balls or bacon and catch fish. That is not often the case these days.

I would hope to encourage each of you to share the fishing experience with any child be it yours or someone elses.

I live within the city limits of Charlotte, NC and have 10 acres of land with a 1 acre stocked pond. I regularly invite folks to fish my pond as long as they bring an young-un with them. My reward is seeing the look on their faces when they bring in a fish.

So take a kid with you, it's important, more so now then before. The newbie fisherman today are our key to making sure the future generation is keyed to keeping stocks up.

Ahhhh, a man of my own heart.

Taking kids fishing is probaly the single most rewarding act a person can perform. I have 3 boys, all fish with me, granted not as much as when they were little. I do still have a 6 year old that thinks fishing with Dad is tops. It warms my heart to watch folks walk down the beach and see my little boy out casting half the adults on the beach. Just ask NS4D.

Every year I try to introduce at least 5 kids to the sport, most years more. I spend a lot of time on the beach and it only take a few minutes to get a kid hooked on fishing.

Just take a few minutes out of your day, hand a child a fishing rod and relax and smell the roses. Fishing is not just about catching.

Got a lil 2 1/2 lil one myself....I have a set up ready for her.I am anxiously waiting for my daughter to go fishing with her dad.

I have cautiously taken her to piers, and she instantly fell in love with the beach.I hope to make her my FHD(Fish Hungry Daughter) :D ...

But guess in my heart, hope when she grows up,she can apply a lot of lessons fishing will teach her.

My daughter is 12 and fishes as hard as I do. She loves it. She baits her own hook, but she doesnt fillet yet.
