Quite a collection of gear Pedro. I was especially intrigued by the Abu Garcia - Suveran S2000M, Mitchell - Match Pro Carbon, and the "oldie".

My gear is a bit more boring. Have quite a collection of "junk", but this year I became an Okuma nut. Main surf rods are 12' Okuma Solaris mated with Okuma reels (Avenger and Epixor series). Casting is now handled by a few 8' Solaris rods also with Okuma reels. Have a 12' Ocean Master in reserve if I need a broomstick, but don't use it much.

Hey Clyde, it's okay to post a picture of your Ugly Stick collection. :p ;)

Never tried Okuma.....some friends of mine have reels. Heard they are good reels........
They have a reel series called AZUL (blue colored, heavy duty sea reel. It's called AZUL because it's the portuguese word for blue).....there you have it. ;)

The Okuma's are decent, not high end, but good enough for my purposes.

The latest thing I've been tinkering with is the modification of a pier cart to make it easier to pull over soft surf sand. Tires have low air pressure (0.14 kgf/cm2) and ride on top of the sand.

:D

This is what we call a "boat rod". I have custom built this rod 7' long, with a long butt, so as to add some castability,it will throw as much as 8oz of lead and a bait. This rod was built mainly for "shoal fishing",but it serves me well for catching many species on the bottom and when using livebait such as cobia, drum, king mackeral, stripers, and tarpon.. The reel is a Diawa SL 30 it is filled with 20lb green Trilene Big Game line, with 50lb shock it works great on big fish..

This is a 9' Tica rod with a Diawa Capricorn 3500 on it. This rod works well for throwing bucktails and other lures to fish such as stripers or false albacore from the beach. Also will work well as a bottom rod for catching spot, whiting, flounder, bluefish and other species..
I have it loaded with 8diameter-20lb test fireline. All of my spinners are loaded with fireline,as you will see..

This is my "sightcasting rod" for the boat,my favorite for catching drum and cobia. It also has a Capricorn 3500 on it with 20lb fireline. The rod is a Rainshadow 8' rod.. This rod and reel combo fights a big fish well for it's size..

http://pierandsurf.com/photopost/data/500/11915rainshadowcapricorn.jpg

This is probably my favorite, because it catches so much variety.. Gloomis rod GL2,with a Diawa 2500 Ondine reel.. It is loaded with 6 diameter- 17lb test fireline. This combo has caught many species of fish, from here in North Carolina to Florida Keys..

http://pierandsurf.com/photopost/data/500/11915loomis-ondine.jpg

I'm finally going to show you a combo without a Diawa on it,as you can tell,I believe in Diawa for it's quality.. This is a 1448 Loomis rod 12'2" long. The reel is an ABU 6500 levelwind. I use this combo for throwing metal,or spoons,as you can see in pic.Mostly a striper rod.. This thing will throw a 4 oz diamond jig a mile.. :D

I just can't get a good pic of rods with my digital,sorry.. :(

Also curious about your home made pier cart', Let's see if it looks as good as bubbablue.Hey Pedro,

Thanks, but the cart pictured above is mostly "not" homemade. It is a commercially made "Fish 'n Mate Jr." that I modified. All I did was change to sand compatible wheels/tires and add a longer axle. It worked just fine before on pier or hard pack, but not on soft sand.

Been tinkering with it this morning too... adding more rod holders, playing with shorter axles, etc.
