:D "Sputniks".....good name
The model in the pic as an excelent aero and hydrodinamic. Not very common to sputniks.

These are new to me. DO the legs collapse when the line is retrieved like the break away lures? I wonder how hard these would be to make. am in process of making weights for the summer. I am making bank (triangle), bullet, and torpedo d(guides on both ends)..I am thinking about modifying a mold to try andmake the break away type wright. I hope to have everything ready to start this weekend. Should be interesting.

On the Sputniks I buy (at Lighthouse .... Al says they will tangle lines big time if they roll) the legs are parallel to the sinker and they spread out once they hit bottom and hang on to something (or dig in the sand.
When I reel them in, they are usually in the opposite parallel position of when I tossed them, and sometimes they are a mix of angles.
The ones I see at that eBay auction seem better than the ones I buy and I would be interested in the answer to your question based on those models.
Frankly, they seem like a good alternative to the need for heavier weight to hold bottom when your rig can't handle more extreme weights.

i've used them and think the work great on a sandy bottom w/current...lets you go down 2-3oz as opposed to a pirimid...the legs flip back on the retrieve...i have found you need to "set" them...give a little tug so they dig...i have lost a few at lesner(as well as alot of other stuff...lol)...they don't drag on the retrieve like a pirimid does...hope this helps...gary

It's a great price as is everything else on eBay. Check out the shipping and handling price. That is what always bites ya on anything on eBay. Should anyone decide to get some of these, ask your local buddies so you can buy them in bulk.

I'm thinking about placing an order for some of his sputniks. The store page says the postage is the same ($7.70) as long as they can pack it in a 11" x 8" x 5.5" sized box. Sounds expensive, but if it's full of lead... may not be that bad a deal.
Anybody else thinking about placing an order and planning on attending the 'Peake Spring Fling on March 5? If so, you wanna combine orders to save on postage? We can settle up at the Fling.
PM me if you're interested.
