Hi Pierandsurfers, I'm new and not that new to the board. I've been one of those you call "lurkers" for the past couple years until now.
To make the story short, I'm "the guy" referred by Sand Flea in the post below who caught the 40' cow. That is my personal best. I also landed two more in the 35's and one 30' from 2p to 6p. Sand Flea must still be mad that I "intercepted" his fish. :p Matt, I'd appreciate it if you could share the 40's to the members. Does anybody know if it touches the citation?
Couple things I found would be interesting to share. One is all the big fish were caught on red hooks. I had another rod with plain black hooks that did not do nearly as good. Also all but one was on the bottom hook. Not sure if that's a pure incident.
Sand Flea, truly a pleasure meeting you. Thank you for showing me the long cast drill and encouraging me to post.
Jeff

If I remember right I think you need a picture of the fish with the lenght(tape measure) weight, lenght and girth and a witness.I think you can give all this information to a tackle shop that would handle this, the last time I caught a citation, I brought the fish to a sporting goods shop and they did the above for me,but that was many years ago and it wasn't a rock but a sea trout. Thanks a lot for the replies. It feels especially warm the for the first timers. I just called the DNR and found you can get the citation one of the following three ways.
1. Any citation centers, like local tackle shops.
2. DNR website.
3. By phone, 410-260-8255 or 800-688-3467 ext. 8255.
I use #3. They only asked date, length, and any witnesses. No picture needed. When I mentioned I do have a picture, he said he would post it on this week's fishing report. By the way, this DNR guy's name is Keith. He's one of the nicest person I've talked to.

can't see taking a fish to release later out of the park to Angler's. Like GC said a quick pic and a measurment is good enough.

Sand Flea did a great job on this. When I was fighting the fish, he already had the tape and camera ready. This beauty was quickly released back to the water.
The web address for applying a citation is:

Headed to Sandy Point in the morning and would love advice (or company). I have a 22 center console and all the gear to hustle up a few rocks. Just need some local knowledge!

Sand Flea, I did receive the pictures. Thanks a lot. But I don't know how to attach pictures and was wondering if you could lend me a hand...
