off your hands? My GF wouldn't get near me after a weekend of hard fishing, bunker smell trip. I usually use toothpaste. I rub for a few minutes to get down to the pores and has worked very well. I was just wondering what's other use out there. I caught some shad yesterday, I washed a few times last nite, but the smell wouldn't go away. I don't mind the fishy smell, just the lady does.

Try washing your hands with tea leaves, that usually does the trick for me.

I've heard listerine does the trick. Bleach is ok, but harsh on the hands.
Berkely used to have a product called 'Erase' that was dynamite on fish stink. Haven't seen it in years, and my bottle ran out a long time ago.

Orange hand cleaner... or if it's really bad, and maybe there's a little eau 'd shedder oil thrown in... dunk your hands in a little dissolved Oxyclean for a bit. Rinse good. I have a bad case of the finger crackers, so I have to use lotion/balm afterwards. The Oxy dries out your hands.
It's also good to get the stank outa your clothes/fish rags too.
OBTW, Wally World has an off brand (Sun?) oxygen cleaner that works just as well for 2 bucks a tub. :p

Hell, stinky bunker is an honor! Makes ya feel like ya still there. Me until mid June Jeep has that aroma, and though keeps the wife and kids out of the Jeep, makes it easier for me to go alone. Only really bad thing is if one dem der bastads gets loose and out of the cooler, by July, well hell I wouldn't be able to stand it.
Anyhow for the hands, plain ol' lemon juice from a REAL lemon.
Have Jeep will travel :D

Very simple trick to get rid of any stench on the hands, be it garlic, bunker, or :--|
Stainless steel. Just take a piece of it and rub it around your hands while you're washing. It will remove any smell. You can buy small amulets of it in any kitchen/home store, or you can smash up some kitchen utensils if your wife lets you get away with it.

stainless steel works great..............and so does lemon dawn dish detergent.and fast oragne waterless handcleaner...........i try to keep a tube of fast orange in my tackle bag....but dont use it til your done fishing....it does tend to put other fish off their feed
i havent found anything to really help after a long weekend or week fishing exept to make sure to get under your nails and clip when ya get home. i do what chapa said also, doing a set of dishes will help a whole lot. once ya get a lot of bunker oil all up on ya its all over anyway... ss doesnt help and lemon oils havent really helped either, although lemon zest is better than just lemon juice. i've found they just cover the smell up, steel wool.....
must be dem northern md bunker, come off da hands a lil mo quicker. maybe im just dirty when i fish... but i will try that oxy clean for my hands and rags, thanks alot for the tip!

always got some lemon hand sanitizer in the tackle box... just rinse with water, squirt some on your hands and call it a day. does the trick. what i really need is a way to get the smell of fried fish out of the house. my ol' lady loves that smell, lemme tell you. :--| you shoulda seen her this fall when she came home and i was cleaning stripers at the kitchen table.
