Land locked blue crab lover wondering when is the crabbing season?

Hay everybody I'm a landlocked Ohioian who's fondest memorys as a boy was going to Maryland and crabbing for some of that awesome blue crab with my cousins at Breezy Point. I'm just wondering whens the best time to crab? And whats the best way to get em? Is it still with chicken necks or what. Help me out

Don't know about up north, but they've come out of their winter homes in the deep water in our area. Nobody is catching a lot in the shallow waters yet but it won't be long.
