The one for this season is OK. I think that
the ones from the last few seasons were
a lot better. I wonder what they do with
all of the crabs that just died on the way
back into port? You know that the meat
is still good, but they just cannot sell it.
Man I would give them a few bucks on
the side for all the King Crab legs my truck
could carry and then freeze them!!!
Then again, I am sure that someone is
already taking those crabs off their
hands....highly doubt they are going
in the trash.

SeaSalt, it was $5 a pound, which is what
they get from the crab buyers up there.

I'm trying to figure out why Discovery Channel keeps putting up the same style shows they had out 5 years ago. I've already seen that back then. I sure wish there was something new and original back in TV. As a matter of fact, I don't watch much TV anymore. The only time I have it on is when I'm going to sleep and put my sleep timer on. This makes for little conversation for me when my coworkers talk about it nonstop. Good thing I like to work and not talk.

But can you imagine making $3500 in 4 days?
Those boats did just a little too much swaying for me. and talk about no sleep.
I like how this season is "sponsored" by Budweiser. I like the bud crab count.
Seems like there are alot of king and snow crabs around. I can't believe that all of the crabs in stores and restaurants are caught in a 50 hour period by 8 boats. Anyone know if there is a second season or other fishing area?

Did anyone see the one where the guy was walking across the deck and broke something in his foot when he stepped into one of the broken deck boards? Now mind ya the boat was still floating but wouldnt ya worry just a whole lot about going out on a boat in them rough arse seas that already had broken deck boards. :(

its all about the money...if you could make 18k in 6 wks as a deck hand...and do this 2 times a year...some people can...not me...inland...farmers bust butt...sea side...charter/commercial do...it all works out to the capt. gets most(he got the boat and fees)and has the most expensinces...the middle man makes the most...that is the job to have...

I watched this week and one of the Crab boats sunk before they opened the Opilio season. The boat was called the Big Valley and it had 6 crew members. 5 died and one lived. 3 of the crew members were found but 2 were already dead. The other 3, including the captain has not been found. I found an article that stated that the weather was the cause of the boat sinking but there were other contributing factors as well.
