Big Up P&S crew!!

I just bought an Okuma EB 65 on a
12ft Solaris and would like to get some information on the Live Bait feature. How and when would I used this feature? Any tips or advice would be greatly aprecitated.

Thanks in advance!

use it anytime you are dead sticking bait or live lining. Just cast and lift the lever then adjust the rear drag and your good to go

Hey DFish,

Congrats on your baitrunner.

I just picked up 3 CD90's. They are so cool. Just toss your bait out as usual, and as Axon said, flick the switch up. You may have to adjust the rear drag to keep the current from taking your line out, but that is it.

Then sit back and wait for the old click...click...click. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I used mine for the first time at IRI and hooked a few skates. Only thing is my rod tip barely moved, but I could hear the line being pulled off.

With the bait runner engaged, all you have to do is begin reeling in. Pretty simple.

The things they do to make fishing easier.

Enjoy!

Thanks Axon and Jeff! I'm going to try it out this weekend at Solomons or Cove Point.

Don't forget to set the front drag under line strength for fighting a fish. If you have it clamped down and tie into a big one, when you turn that handle it's going to zing pow your line!.....Tightlines

Dont forget that front drag, since you wont be turning it up and down, be sure to have it backed off. Once that bait runner engages the line will stop. if you got a big one, with a tight drag, may say bye bye to mr fish.

Thanks Clyde for catching that ;)

Yeah they are pretty cool. Allows for free spooling, without disengaging the bail. This allows the bait to swim or the fish to take the bait and swim freely before you begin reeling in.

Is a nice feature for setting and forgetting rods, not sure if baitrunners will prevent 100% of rods from being pulled into the water, but I guess about 90% will stay dry.

With circle hooks, (no setting required)
and now baitrunners (allow fish to take bait and run)
and a few copper cow bells on the rod tip,

and you are all set for a very relaxing day of fishing.
