555 GS reel

i just start on coventional reel ,does any body know if penn 555 GS is any good

i'd go with something that has a mag in it if you've never used a conventional reel before, also that one is a little big for anything you might catch from the shore except a big shark. Try a 525 mag, or one of the daiwas, theya re pretty tame anyway and you can get a mag conversion for it

IT can be casted pretty good like it is, or you can pay an extra penny and get a magged one

You can also slow it down a little for less money http://alamoareaanglers.homestead.com/MagGS.html , I did this for my 535 gs and cast 80 Yrds constantly.
I know a couple of people who love that reel, and catch many big sharks on it. the key is lots of braid with around 200 yards of mono top shot.
If u don't want a reel for sharking, then down size.
