Getting another boat road for chasin Yellowtail and others out here on these West Coast Head Boats. Their tackle offerings are crappy.

Think the Slosh 30 I use on the OM12 will do a decent job for this? Don't need alot of capacity. Can load it with some 20 or 30.

Opinions?

Also, suggestions on a rod that will work for Yellowtail (Red Drum sized with as much or more fight) as well as general bottom fishing without getting too long?

Thanks

I just picked up a handful of Pinnacle Powertips for wicked cheap- $30 apiece. 6', good backbone, should do the job on bottomfishing and light trolling. Plus at $30, I'm not scared of rashing them up on a headboat rail.

As for the reels- you might want to step it up to a 40 or 50 series just in case you run into some of those megawarrior white sea bass out there. Capacity + Drag = Neighborhood fishfry.

It should do fine as long as the Lb test required stays within the rated lines. Both 20 and 30 are in that range.

I go with a good 20lb test line. Double you line for the shock leader then double that for the leader that you will tie to your hook.
Make sure that the drag is set properly, not to tight.
