Well went to the lesner tide running in at a good clip. Fished the ramp side for the first time this year. Only reason was to meet up with Percy who I met here. He is doing the graphic design work on the news letter for the yet to be named fishing club. As I had a little time to kill before hee got there I tried insode the bridge. Well no go there so many bait soakers was no way I could plug without killing someone. Man how could they keep those 2-3 ounce sinkers on the bottom mystifies me. All i saw caught was lots of grass and each other.
So I tried the ocean side of the bridge and in the 20 minutes I fished I had one nice hit.
After meeting percy and discussing the next news letter we parted ways. Did I say he showed me the nicest shimono reel I have every seen man that was a beauty.
so i went over to my favorite haunt the Duck Inn side. Started on the ocean side and after about half hour caught a very nice 26" striper. he went into the cooler. Only thing was he was pretty skinny. But hell he faught like a 20 pounder.
I moved to the inlet side as there were no bait soakers there this time matter of fact there was only one fisherman there before me and my two buddies got there and he caught a striper and then left. Well second cast there and caught a barly legal 18.5 incher that went home with me as well.
Over the next hour caught two dinks and had two break the line. The two that broke the line had to be big.....first one took line and wrapped me into the piling the other one may have been a blue because I only had him for a couple seconds then he cut the line.
My buddies each caught one dink lol
All were caught on gotchas. Threw some storms which is what i had been killing the blues with before all the bad weather but notta nothing not even a hit. Then I snapped a gotcha off because the bail closed in mid cast and i said mother @#$$%% and called it a night. :D :D looks like striper for friday dinner. then i think i may have to try the CBBT pier for somee black drum. Anyone going to give it a try? never caught a black drum sure could use some pointers. BTW anything else being caught there
Ken
