The way to wipe out these nuts is to simply ignore them. The day that the general public has no idea who PETA is will be a good one.

Reasonable people are for humane treatment of animals and oppose deliberate cruelty. Hell, two friends of mine who are vegetarians and animal-rights types HATE radical groups like PETA because they think it hurts their cause by making them all look like nuts.

This group is very good at one thing: generating attention and coverage. They do little to actually help animals.
