i noticed on another tread that some fisherman refer to swivels and similar type of tackle as "junk". do any of you guys use blades on your rigs? if so , what kind of results are you getting on the rigs with blades versus those without?

I use the colorado baldes on my fluke rigs that I tie and I use a smaller version on my regular flounder rigs. I use both styles when the water is a little dirty or murky. I guess they are about equal on production. It really boils down to personal prefereance.

rb, do you use any beads? if so, what color? i am a little curious about your comment, that it [using tackle] is a personal preference. i assume you mean using it vesus not using it, as opposed to color, size, tecture, manufacturer, keepin up wit the jones etc.. ,

Sorry about that I should have put it this way....

Some of the guys I fish with only use the hook, leader and 3-way swivel. They say any more than that is too much hardware. I have found for me that color, sent and sound all work together. For example...here in NJ the hot colors are pink and green for flounder. Right now a green squid skirt and pink colored squid strip or pink squid skirt and green colored squid strip are producuing nicely. Last year for striper, any lure. plug, popper etc that had an orange belly produced lots of fish. The tackle shops here couldn't keep them in stock. Also for weakfish, 1/4 oz white buck tail with a purple worm with a pink or orange fire tail or bubble gum fin-s produced lots of weakies. I know I'm rambling but to get back to your question when it comes to color I try to use pearl colored beads and usually a bead same in color as the squid skirt. I hope this helps.

I read somewhere that statistically pink beads work better on flounder rigs than other colors...
maybe because they look like blood or something.

red is the first color to disapier under water...bleeding bait hooks can't be seen by the fish...color helps attract fish decause they get the fishes attention...hope this helps
