I just won a pair of Cabelas Gore-tex waders off Ebay. They look to be in pretty good condition for the money. However, they have some blood stains on them. After doing a little internet research, I found two cleaning products. One is ReviveX Synthetic Fabric Cleaner. The other is Nikwax Tech Wash. Has anyone used either of these products?

Here's the waders:

Nikwax:

Both these companies make a spray that supposed to help restore the Gore-tex outer shell, too. It can't hurt, right???

My being tight with the wallet, wouldn't standing in the surf cause enough action to clean the blood off? Just a thought.

Jeff,

How about scrubbing the stain with some light soap and water a tooth brush or something? If you do use any of these products, can you put up a post saying how it worked for you. I just dropped $220 on a Gortex rain jacket, so I may need to know if those products work well. That Gortex is freaken' expensive, ain't it? I hope this jacket solves some of the problems I had with my other rain jacket.

The stains are kinda bad. I'm thinking it's fish blood and guts, but I'm not sure. I'm not too familiar with the way dried blood looks on Gore-tex ... or anything else for that matter. They look very dark - almost black. Kinda like tar. I'm thinking it's blood because most of the stains are on the same places I wipe my hands when wearing waders - on the front and back of the right leg.
The Cabales help line told me to use Dawn de-greasing detergent and spray them off with the hose outside. I dunno. I may start with that and see what happens.
The Gore-tex restore spray looks interesting, too.
Pauky, I'll let you know how this turns out.

Thanks Jeff and good luck. This maybe a dumb suggestion, but what about that Oxyclean junk?
