I have to admit that I bit and took the bait. (who says that flashy lures dont attract get bites).

Well I completed 2 of the offers, (I found 2 cheap ones!) Video Professor and BMG (I was in need of some CD's anyway).

Well I paid $6 for one Video Professor cdrom and I am obligated to buy 4 more CD's but I am awaiting my $100 Bass Pro Gift Card. I emailed the company last week and it should ship this week.

I will keep everyone updated with the status.

BTW, I have since got lots of free stuff (by completing certain offers).

a pair of hand held 2 way radios,
a $20 Lowes Gift card
$40 free Gas certificate
2 nice coffee travel mugs (and a insulated pitcher)
$50 Amazon.com gift certificate
$50 Best Buy gift certificate
oh, and another $100 BPS Gift Certificate.

Granted these things are not "free" as you have to buy or start offers, usually only pay shipping or a trial fee. But if you stay on top of things and cancel before the trial period ends, you can "beat the system" Granted I spent some money, but probably $40 all together.

the trick is to find the cheapest offers available, read the terms of conditions, and cancel by the due date.

Just got this email:

Dear Jeff,

Thanks a million for participating in the memolink.com program! We wanted to let you know that your $100 BassPro.com $100 Gift Certificate is on its way. If you don't receive your reward in the next 10 business days, just drop us an email and let us know. We'll be happy to look into it.

Enjoy your day!

I hope it pays off.

Jeff

I got my gift card in the mail today.

The trick is to find and complete "free" offers such as for college, Diabetes supplies, etc.

And for cheap programs (ie video professor). Or you can try a trial membership for a company like AutoAdvantage. Itmay cost a few dollars. You will be approved, get the $100 giftcard a few weeks later. Just be sure to cancel before the trial membership ends (or you will get the monthly charges can be over $50)

If you stay on top ofit, it is a way to beat the system. Yeah nothing is free but I spent $6.95 for a video professor cdrom ( I gave to my dad) and got at $100 BPS giftcard. Plus Sandflea made a few cents from my clicking on the banner.

Free stuff can actually sometimes be free, but it requires jumping through a lot of hoops to get there. For instance, I rarely pay for my magazine subscriptions, finding free offers for them online. I've also gotten some tackle that way.

And free stuff rarely is about spyware--it's about marketing companies collecting personal information for product campaigns. I figure I can give up my address and phone number for freebies every now and then.

Keep visiting those sponsors! ;)

What Flea said - they don't want personal information - just demographic information. And Heck - many of us would sell our soul for free schtuff. ;)

To quote a phrase - Greed . . . . is GOOD! :D
