any one know of a factory rod in the 8-9 foot range that can throw 10+ounces?.....lookn for a new rod for cobia to match with a Daiwa saltist 50......seems like all the rods in this size range are plugging rods....but i want something that can throw a whole spot and an 8 ounce
also just found an 8 foot lami blank...says 20-40 lb model # is S6800...anyone ever used this blank.....can it handle what i need it for?

Breakaway's got a 10' model that'll do the job, the 1209. Not sure about a 9' model, but I'll look in to it.

A Lami 1221MH will throw a brick although I'm not sure of the factory rod number

try the OM 10ft mini heaver, you'll be amazed how much weight that rod can throw, put you can cut a couple of inches from the butt.

I have one built at Reddrum tackle that I would sell for $125.
I don't think it would throw 10 well at all.

AllStar makes a 10' stump heaver that will throw 10 + bait and a small cobia, will try and check on Mod # tomorrow.

Cris, I might have what you are looking for. It is a white fiberglas rod wraped by Lars Tolson in 1979 at Red Drum. The reel seat is cord coated with epoxy, the color is green with yellow. I had it made for casting 12-16oz and bait into a noreaster. Next time you come to the banks I will show it to you. I'll PM you my email addr. The condition of the rod is almost brand new, no green, scratches or defects.

Its funny that you would choose that rod because when i first saw the threat i was going to point you to it. The only problem is the butt is a tad bit on the short side, and you might want to get that tip changed. If your running shock (which I know you are) I give that tip 2 solid weeks of serious segal pier or sb slinging.

short butt not too much of a problem...i could alsways elongate it...but i might get that rod from longcast so may be no need
