OK everyone I need some advice. I got some cabelas gift cards to spend. I want to get a new rod for casting lures at lesner and rudee. Here is what I have to choose from
Penn spinfisher surf rod 8" 1/4 - 2oz
Penn spinfisher surf rod 9" 1 - 5oz
Daiwa Sealine SA surf rod 8" 3/4 - 3oz
Daiwa sealine SA surf rod 9" 1 - 5oz
Tica surf rod 9" 1/2 - 3oz
there are all about in the same price range except the tica its about $20 more.
I got a new okuma spinning reel I'd like to use with the new rod.
any advice would be great.
thanks

I would go with a 9' okuma rod. They are great rods and would look great with an okuma reel.

I would go with an okuma rod, I have one in a 10 footer and its a good rod but cabela does not carry okuma rods

If you were to get the tica, you should get it from Randy at Bait Shack for cheaper and save on the shipping. You should use the money on something else, tackle, bag, reel, whatever, or on the daiwa laguna reel way better than the okuma. Just a thought.

Cabela's also has a rod called a "predator" thats listed as a european match rod. They make 2 different spinning models, both 11'. The lighter one works well with 10# and the heavier one with15#. We have 5 of them and they've been used pretty heavily for over 10 years. They don't have a lot of backbone but they work well for baitfishing for pompano and whiting which is what we use them for. They're a pretty good value for about 70.00 .
