Having a daughter and son, I can't wait for them to enjoy the feel of their first nice fish.
I don't know who this little guy is but I thought I would share these pictures I found on another site.

I'm with ya man!

I can't wait until my son or daughter for that matter has the attention span and is ready to fight a big one. On the other hand I guess we need to start hooking into some for them to catch!:p

My daughter and son have fished with me forever it seems but I have one memory thet just warms my heart. . . My girl (18 now) still remembers it:) .

I sat her down on the bank, put a minnow 18 inches under a bobber and cast out. I told her in a very matter-of-fact way to watch the bobber closely, that when the bobber got near the lillypads it would go down and she would catch this skinny fish with lots of teeth. Not 5 minutes later she's screaming, the drags screaming and in a few more minutes a 21 inch pickerel is flopping in the grass.

She looked up to me with wide eyes and asked me how did I know that was going to happen.

I felt like God there for a minute.

Unfortunately she has learned in the subsequent 13 years that I do not know everything and can not control the future.;)

Chapa, some of the best times I've in the last three years has been fishing with my kids when you're there with your young en's.

I'm gonna get my son, now 3, fishing with that snoopy rod this year. :D

I guess I'll have to wait another couple years for my daughter to start fishing. The pic below was taken about 17 months ago just after she was born.

Yeah. I'm still amazed on how your daughter takes to the beach at that age. Its like Rosemary gave birth to a mermaid. It's a lot of fun. Even though the kids kill our live bait faster than we catch it and Jenna feeds Meka junk food the whole time we're there. I cant imagine going fishing the whole year with out them in tow. It would be nice but not likely.

My daughter is the same way. She just turned 13last month. She loves to fish and go crabbing. She baits her own hook, removes the hook, baits the crab traps...The only thing she WON'T do is fillet. I have tired to show her but that dog don't hunt, which is fine by me.

This is a picture of my son,who is my best fishin bud.. He is 4 in this pic. At that time he had caught everything from 2lb largemouth and big bluegills in my backyard off nw river to small baracuda and puppy drum.. In the pic we were on a freind of mine's boat that guides in FLA.. He was too small to fight the bonefish and walk around the boat,so I acted as a "moble fighting chair"..:D

I do my best to make sure he ask when he wants to go,so as not to force it upon him.. Yesterday he wanted to skateboard,so we found some nice hills and he and I "cut the asphalt"..... :D

I know what you all mean about having your best pals, be they a son or daughter. Here is a shot of LittleFish with his citation flounder and 'just missed a citation' trout. Love having him along. We're looking forward to the Spring Drum run this year.

Another story is of my daughter when she was 3 I took her to a pond and set her up on the bank with a bobber and a big ol' worm. I was chatting with a friend and next thing I know was she was shouting 'Daddy Daddy Daddy' as she was slowly being pulled down the bank toward the water with her snoopy rod doubled over. She may have been heading toward the water but she refused to let go of that rod!! When she finally reeled it in she had herself a big old catfish. Boy was she proud!! Now she's got a better feel for it than her old man.

Sgt. Slough, you're right, she knows I don't know everything, and thinks she knows it all... :p

Youngest daughter, now 14, well used to sit on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay and out fish me, girl could catch some croakers, took her to AI, well guess fishing was too slow, ended up exploring and climbing the dunes to find the Jeep. Now I go to AI and she wants to go, only to surf all day and sleep all night.

But her company is fun, memorable, and most of all, PRICELESS. Gots to say she looks pretty good riding a wave in to shore.

Have Jeep will travel :D

Good stories/pictures everybody.I too have children that fish.My daughter is in her teens and have found boys and shopping more interesting lately though. My son has just turned six and has learned to cast his own spinning reel.I love the look on their face when they're hooked up and the fish is taking line.I just took him for an overnighter this weekend and he caught a bunch of fish on his new birthday pole.

I remember that! I also found your son is very useful when it comes to gathering sandfleas.;)

You guys have any advice on where to take my son fishing for the first time - pond, pier, beach? He's 2 1/2 now and pretty big for his age. Snoopy rod, Zebco 33? What to use? I'm really looking forward to taking him fishing this summer, but would like to break him in right. Thanks.
