... OK I'm not either a Seahawk or Steelers fan, but that was a poorly officiated game to the point that the Refs were the MVP for Super Bowl XL and the Steelers.
Starting w/ that bogus offensive interference call to negate a Seattle TD early, then later the phantom TD by big Ben as he did not get in/ball brake the plane. Didn't get much better in the second half call wise for the Seahawks including a questionable holding call on a critical completion that would have put Seattle on the goal line, oh well ?!
Picked Steelers to win the game, just not like that :--|

I saw the calls as being pretty good with the Big Ben TD it was ruled a touchdown and from at least one angle it did appear to break the plane, therefore the call stands. overall I think the officiating was okay

It SUCKED. Have watched all 40 and this one was by far the worse ever, Mick and Keith need to retire, the best part of the whole thing were the commercials, back to football and pipe down on the hype, cause it was a waste of time, after the first half.

Well, the ref's made a bad call or two
but that did not in any way cause
Seattle to loose this game. Pittsburgh
just wanted this game more. They
came out and made the huge plays
when they needed them. And since
we lost to the Seahawks....the heck
with them. :D

No the refs totally blew several calls in the game. Seattle really out played pittsburgh. The steelers won on gimmick and broken plays. Even with the poor officiating and lucky breaks by the steelers. Bottom Line Holgram blew that game. He just does not know how to manage the clock. The debacle before the half then that crap at the end. He deserves to lose. Pit did just enough to win and the refs did just enough for seattle to lose.
Seattle had the short pass all game but did not stick with it. Big Ben did wnat I thought he would do play scared with a couple picks but seattle did not capitalize the whole first half. They should have been up 2 scores minimum by half but did not do it. Oh well next year is the year of the SKINS :D

Bottom Line 21-10
Steven's caught the football took 2 steps and fumbled the ball.
Ben barley crossed that threshold
There was no holding on Seattle.
Hassleback did not intentionally hit below the belt.
All in all, It's Over now. Steelers got one for the thumb.
#36 will be raised @ 3 rivers stadium. His autographed Jersery will be hangin in my house.

Everybody can moan and groan about
how Seattle got robbed. Bottom line
is that every team will have a game
where they get jobbed by the refs
sometime during the season or playoffs.
Look at the Pittsburgh vs Colts playoff
game. Pitt got hosed a lot worst than
Seattle and they still stuck it out and
made the plays when they had to and
won. Seattle had plenty of chances and
they imploded. Poor clock management,
dropped passes, catching balls out
bounds by not knowing where you are,
etc, etc.

There were some bad calls and some bad plays, but that's foot ball. That happens. You overcome it and adapt and change your game plan. Unfortunatley Seattle didn't do that as well as they should have and they lost.

Seattle basically gave the game away by
attempting those 2 50 plus yard field goals.
The steelers could not move the ball when
they were backed up against thier own
goal line (just like us:rolleyes: ) So what
does Seattle do? Instead of pinning them
deep into their own territory and almost
assuredly getting the ball back with great
field position, they opt to buck the odds
and end up giving the Steelers the ball
at the 50 yard line TWICE. That just
totally changed the momentum of the game.
They got cocky and chose the high risk
play and it came back to bite them on
the behind. Smart play would have been
to pinn them deep and get the ball back
with a short field. Terrible coaching.

Oh yeah. Mike Holmgren If he couldn't get across the field to shake some hands then he didn't even deserve to win at all.
I've played many sports including AAU baseball. No matter how much we've won or loss by. Everyone always makes it a point to get across the field and shake the hands of your opponents.

Those calls by the zebra monkeys in the first half was outrageous... then I started paying attention to the millions of Steelers plugs on commericials, announcements... money talks. I'm sure plenty of people put the 'farm' up on that game, and you know them refs ain't tryin' to end up in a ditch somewhere in Detroit  :D
Anyways, this topic has probably been beat to death... Steelers played a good game, just alot of garbage calls in that first half that could have made the score a little tighter.

one of the werst games I have seen and witnessed...Be it that I was routing fer tha under dog...but Jeez.........that first score shoulda been a touchdown...if any call shoulda been made...it shoulda been on tha DB ....what happened to no contact after 5 yards?:--| Tha refs shoulda not made that call ..........
Jeremy Stevens needs ta give up his pay check...don't know if'n it was Porter's werds gettin to him...or he secretly is a Steeler fan...man with hands like that don't need ta be playin tha pro's or ina SB.:--|
That QB sneek was not a TD! Don't know what game them zebra's were watchin ,but that TD wasn't even close.
The Seahawks did make some questionable (duma$$ calls) plays ,and they are ta blame also .You make yer bed..yer gonna sleep in it...twice ..yer gonna attempt FG's?...and yer defense was stopping tha run?..Pin em and let yer defense win tha feild position game...it might get yer kicker closer to tha goal post????:--|
Who didn't see that play with tha WR option?...the Steelers only tried in every other game in tha Playoffs..........They shut down Steve Smith ,but couldn't see tha tplay comin?...Holmgren yer a bum!:--|
Congrats Jerome...congrats Steelers...but IMHO that game was given to em...don't think if that game was played again today ,with a different officiating crew ,it woulda went tha Steelers way:--|

Seattle will look back at the game film
and they will be kicking themselves.
They had plenty of chances to win.
They lost due to poor plays and terrible
coaching.
It's like our loss at Tampa Bay when
they "supposedly" scored on that
2 point conversion. Yeah, that play
was wrong...but guess what, it was
our fault for letting them put us
in a position where the refs could
make or break us. We should have
never let them get the ball back.
At the end of the day, you have to
look at what you could have done to
win. Seattle could have done PLENTY
to win that game. They blew it.

Didn't take too much of a hurtin.....guess it was jus pride...since I was routin fer them dam Seagullz....
But all in all....had a great SB-XL party...........everyone had a great time and looks like everyone got home safely!...jus nomore Jager Bombs and Schlager 4me.....I quit drinkin:--| .....till I get over my hangover :)

Guys,
I really hate to beat a dead horse but I gotta defend my boys.
that first score shoulda been a touchdown
You cannot place your hand on a defender in a play. You can forearm him all day long but he placed his hand on him a pushed off.

As long a single centimeter touches that white line. --------------TOUCHDOWN. More than an inch crossed that line.

1. Sidelines and end lines are out of bounds. The goal line is actually in the end zone. A player with the ball in his possession scores a touchdown when the ball is on, above, or over the goal line.

thats the photo I wanted. it was ruled a touchdown and since at least from that view you can't say for sure theres no CONCLUSIVE evidence to overturn it.

Not even close to one for the thumb. Not a single person on the football team has the other four! However, only 5 championships in what about about 70 years? Doesn't say much does it when you look at the big picture. :--| Christ I hate the Squeeler's.

HUH? What are you talking about? There is only two other teams in the NFL history that have 5 rings. There is 32 other teams. How can anyone in thier right mind that is a true football fan and not a total Homer think about the big picture.
Just ask the Lions, Seahawks or Cardnals and the Eagles what they think about five rings. How about just one.
