Just heard on the Tony Kornheiser show
on 980 radio that Randel El is possibly
in talks with the Redskins.

Hey Henry, are you on ES? I've read some posts on ES and I can sense some relation to some of your work on here.

Yeah, that's me!:D
Since the skins officially took over the
board, they get some great inside
information.
I am one of the bad guys in the
"tail gate" forum...I go on there to
blow off steam...:D :D

It's just sports talk (radio) rumor. They
were talking about it on 980 this morning.

I heard it on Fox sports 850 as well.
It could happen if they have enough money after they pay all those coaches.

Coaches don't count against the salary cap. It's the money they paid Primetime that hurt us still. :--| :D :)

Please say it aint so. I DONT WANT HIM. Lets get a real WR not a converted QB. If we are going to throw money around lets fo==go after someone like Wayne or one of the other free agent Wide Outs. There are several available.....hell I would rather have TO.......hmm well maybe not but i do not want Randle El

I have to agree with skinsfan on this one.
ARandalEl is way over rated. He's not even a great punt returner.
TO is a much better reciever than ARandalEl.
But man ARandalEl can throw a football. I can't throw a perfect bomb like he did sunday night to save my life.

Joe Gibbs is not going to take TO.
I have not seen Randel-El play enough to say what kind of
impact he could have. I do agree that we need a solid
#2 WR. I do not agree that he has to be a big/tall type
WR...now if the best WR available fits those dimensions
than great. If for some reason we did get Randel-El I feel
our depth roster would look as follows:
#1 WR Moss
#2 WR D. Patten
#3 WR Randel-El/Special Teams/Kick Returner
#4 WR James Thrash/Special Teams specialist
While not my first choice, this would be a HUGE upgrade
from what we had last year.

Thanks for the ES thing, I'll check it out. But I usually agree with Sonny and Sam anyway...
Patten will either be the surprise or bust next year, he wasn't healthy so it's hard to analyze.
Randle El or not, there will be a draft and free agent pickup.
Thrash=Brian Mitchell
One of the best and gutsiest special teams guys ever. Look for him to play a bigger role next year.

Dr. Bubba, I agree with most of what you
said. Randel-El is not the answer, but he
sure would be a nice part of the puzzle.
I have always liked Thrash. We should have
never let him go to Philly in the first place.
The only part I am not sure on is David Patton,
he did not get hurt until after at least half
the season was over. While healthy, he
did not exactly show me anything special.
He is going to have to really turn it on to
make a believer out of me.

Looks like they were serious about
upgrading the offense this year.
Moss
Lloyed
Randel-el
Fauria
Cooley
Portis
Thrash
Looks like we will get rid of David Patton
which I totally agree with. I know that
a lot of guys did not want Randel-el, but
I think he will be a great fit with the type
of offense that gibbs/Saunders like to run
with all the screen passes and gadget plays.
If (big if) Lloyed steps up as a serious
threat, we will be dangerous. Randel-el
will help us out a lot on the kick/punt
return game.

Now all we need is a quarterback! Defensively we could use a good DE and cover corner. Was talking with Teo on Saturday and ES sounds very cool.
Randal El gives Gibbs and Saunders a lot of extras when you think about it...he is multi-dimensional, can run a reverse so we don't get Moss all beat up, has excellent moves and speed to complement Moss and LLoyd, and can throw a beauty of an option pass. Tremendous upside. And we still haven't figured out if Patten was worth the money or not. This year is where the rubber hits the road. Thrash is a warrior, although he only has one speed and its straight, not the most elusive wideout.
Granted, it would have been nice to have Reggie Wayne but I don't think we would have gotten him and I'm not sure he's Gibb's type of guy anyway. And in no way do we want TO. Just say NO to TO. :) Yep, the offense is starting to take shape. All we need is a quarterback.

After watching Clinton Portis miss a
wide open Moss on that option pass
in the playoffs I will be glad to have
a Randel-el throwing that ball instead.;)

Looks like Jason Campbell is gonna be the wildcard that decides our fate this year, though I'm thinking Gibbs may stick with Brunnel for another year which I'm not at all thrilled about. Can someone explain to me why our top priority in free agency was not Drew Brees, and do we still have a shot at him over Miami?

Forget about Brees, if gibbs had plans for him we would not have picked up llyod and randal el, gibbs would have went all out for brees. Gibbs sticks with the guys he drafts. Our future lies with Cambell good or bad. The one thing us old time skins fans know is that we do not need an all star QB to win championships what we need is 1) a great running game enter Portis 2) great offensive line decent right now but looks like the draft will now focus on the O line 3) great defense- that we already have just need a couple of role players to fine tune some players cut becaause of salary cap or lost to free agency. i.e. arrington and harris and springs is getting up there in age. 4) a great pass catching and run blocking tight end enter second year man Cooley :D:D:D:D and finally 5) a good kicking game we have Hall strong leg but bad hammy not sure where we go with this one but hey kickers are a dime a dozen LOL My wish list 1) a pass rushing sack master of a defensive end (remember man and manly) a 6'9" tall tackle to man the right side (remember jacoby)
then our mode of operations would be counter trey right counter trey left counter trey right counter trey left bombs away over the drawn up linbackers and TD 40/rush game TOP 40 min to opponent 20 min record 12-4

Gibbs loves Jason Campbell. I would
expect to see Campbell get inserted into
the starting lineup this year. It's just
a matter of waiting for the right time.
The second that Brunnel gets banged
up a little and Campbell comes in, that
will probably be it for Brunnel as the
starter. Gibbs is looking at the backup
QB from Kansas...I forget his name as
our 3rd string QB. We do not need
anyone else.

Redskins signed the backup from KC today. Look for Brunell to retire after this season and join the skins coaching staff.
I agree Brunell gets the starting nod but as soon as Brunell gets a hang nail he is out and Cambell is in. Just like last season and Ramsey. With the receiving core we now have Brunell could lead the league in passer rating and portis should have a career year. Can you say Redskins NFC East Champs and NFC Champs
For a team with salary cap problems we sure made a lot of free agent moves :D:D:D
