I do change my big spoons when going for Big Reds to a single large hook so it snags less...

Hey Chris I have had good success with the circle hook. Those are the Penn Circle Sets. Hey VIC that spoon is a little cleo, the split rings act like a tail and also create lots of movement and bubbles. The Big blues go ape s**t over it.

I switch out the trebles for circles on all my lures except for rat-l-traps (which have no action with circles) and one shorty Hopkins with 80 lb. leader for those days when the bluefish are stealing my lures.

I gather you've had to pull a couple of em in hooked just under the peck fin as well???:rolleyes: :p

I was losing way too many lures, that's why I decided to use wire leader.
