Must be a military thing....my dad used to
do the same thing. When we got orders
for Germany, we were living in Monterey CA
at the time. We drove all over the United
States and eventually flew out of Florida
to head to Germany. He still loves to
take extended road trips to this day. He
drives to Canada all the time. We never
did the camping though....for us it was
budget motels and my mom would sneak
in the hot plate to cook...:D :D

Johnnyleo11, where did you get addicted
to rugby at?
Can't say that I'm addicted to Rugby. I think it's more of an infection.
I was going to play football at SUNY Stony Brook up in NY during my college years. Signed up for my classes my first semester and then the football coaches told me I had to change my schedule to suit the needs of the football team. That afternoon, I walked through the student union and saw a Rugby table set up. I remembered seeing Rugby on ESPN2 ( the Deuce back in the day) and thought it looked like a cool sport and it was something new. I wasn't going to school on a football scholarship anyhow. After three weeks for practice, played my first match against West Point and lost 70-3. Scoring works similar to gridiron, so it was a buttwhoopin'. I learned the sport pretty fast and have been lucky enough to play for some of representative sides and see some of the world and the Union. I don't think I'm going to make the national team, but I play for the All Military team and it lets me show other countries what Americans look like and who we are first hand as opposed to some other way. It lets me see other cultures up front and direct.
The friendship and camraderie in the sport is second to none and there is always someone that plays within a short driving distance anywhere in the world. If some of you guys are tired of softball or flag football, look up a Rugby club and get ready to accept about 40 friends. Some guys start playing at 45. There are a lot of clubs in the DC area.
I've played for:
SUNY Stony Brook SeaWolves
Seoul Survivors
Norfolk City Blues
Charleston Outlaws
Norfolk City Blues
Charleston Outlaws
All Coast Guard 1999-Forvever
Combined Services Tour 2002 Australia
Combined Services 7's
I'm starting to sound like those old guys with that resume! God save my soul and body! That's why there is beer and motrin.

I was a CC and gunner on F and later P model slicks, before we transistioned to HH-53's. Only nightmares that reoccurr are pertaining to a shoot down about 50 clicks south of Hanoi, where a friend and myself escaped and evaded for 11 days til they could get another bird, that had balls enough to come and get us out, I to this day thank god for the marine survival training, that was required for the trip to SEA. Sure saved my butt. Friends made there are much closer than own family, but its hard to explain until you see the tracers coming at you. then you just know.

Didn't think there were that Many "Brats" here..
Duh...
Been too Panama Canal Zone for several years Atlantic Side.. 76~82
Some of the best Bass Fishing in the World.
And Salt..
I (and My brother) were a guide(s) for Many outings as a teen/young Man for Military WIVES, people visiting such as VIP's, senators etc. and high ranking Army Official's coming down from the US on Gatun Lake.
It was such, that Me and My Brother were sought after, because WE ALWAYS brought back nice stringers of Peacock Bass, regardless of conditions.
We would "Guide" these people in return for a chance at using a gas powered John-boat for a Days use, back in the Day, as We always used Canoes..
We also Caught our own Bait, (minnows) which turned out being a very profitable operation, as We caught our minnows hook and line, no kidding mini parinahs.. We had the best bait, secret spots galore, and almost got our azzes kicked by people buying our minnows, not coming back with fish, while My Brother and I would kill'em dead, (the bass), GROWN MEN, mind you about to beat up teenagers over spots too fish, or would follow us around.... ;)
We would park up under some overhanging trees, smoke a "CIGAR", (we were kids and Panama Red was cheap).. Drinking Malt Ducks, catching fish under a tree until whomever would Leave...
That worked out fine until one Day a Howler Monkey decided too Jump into the Canoe with us.. YIKES!
I really wish My ex-wife hadn't burned all My Hundreds of Pictures WE took from down there..
Great Times.....

St. Croix.

Dominican Republic
Kingston, Montego Bay .. Jamaica
Guantanamo Bay Cuba - Fire Training
Panama- US Base Rodman ...via Panama canal
Puerto Cortez Honduras

Stavanger Norway
Edsjberg Denmark
Portsmouth England
Holylock Scotland
Ireland......forgot what port it was.
Lisbon Portugal

Somolia........ Clintons debacle for 5 months
Cape Verde Africa
Liberia........Evacuating civilians for 4 months
Senegal Africa
Sierra Leone Africa
Guinea Bissau Africa
Ghana West Africa
Ivory Coast Africa
The west African people were the nicest I had met in my travels. They were just awsome how they treated amricans. It was hard to walk down the streets without having them asking you in for a meal or a drink.
Isreal was just as awsome, for historical reasons alone.
The europeans were mostly snobby once they realizes who we were. They pretty much looked down thier noses at us.
The UK was fun. England,Scotland,Ireland...good people. Alot of bad hangovers from there though!;)
