I've worked in television news for the last 10+ of my life. Until today, I've never owned a still camera. In fact, I don't know a thing about taking still photos. Chit, I've used disposable cameras all my life.
I bought a Canon PowerShot A520 today for $151. I think (hope?) I got a good deal. All I wanted to get was something to take pics with while on the beach.

It’s fine. All the pics I take and post is with a
Canon Power Shot A60. Yours is better. If all your going to do is take pics at the beach and post to the sight and print pics, its more than enough.
I bought the wife a Kodak camera with the docking station printer for Valentines Day. She still hasn’t used it. Cost me over 3 bills with all the extras.

Awesome Camera.
I used to have a Canon A85. The little brother of the A520. Shouldn't of sold it. Canon by far is the best.
You can take this Camera to it's limits.
You're gonna love the different Aperture, shutter speed and ISO's ranges as well. Make sure you get pics of those sunrises @ SB.
For that Price I wouldn't mind picking up a point n shoot like that also. Right now my fishing camera is a cheapo kodak point n shoot.
I currently own a Canon 350D it's a sweet Camera but I wouldn't dare take it on a fishing trip.

Thanks guys. I usually don't buy things on a whim, and I had second thoughts when I got home.
I feel better about the deal already. To be honest, I was just looking for another disposable for about $15 bucks. Then I was like naw, I should get a real camera. I want to be sure and get more pics of my kids on the beach than I have the last two or three years. The kids and the fish we catch.
Maybe I should get that cool waterproof case they make for it.
Now, if I can just figure out what apertures, shutter speeds and ISO's ranges, I'll be all set. ;)
Thanks again.
jeff depending on the price range your in they make alot of "waterproof"camers that will blow the kodaks out the water. i use a cannon powershot sd450 myself, but wish i had gotten one of the underwater, give me a call if you want specs... otherwise, its like rods man, go custom, or go om, no need to go in the middle,
take it from me, someone im related to prolly built the fauker

Jeff, for just taking pics of the kids and fishn stay with the simple shots and have everything set on auto and keep the resolution as low as possible. The only time I might bump up the res. is when taking very important pics, other wise it eats up a lot of memory and takes a while to load on to the puter. One other trick I have found is buy a Card reader *they are cheap* to do the down loading to your puter, its much faster and saves battery life. Remember most printers are not set up to do printing on high pixel settings,,, you might be amazed just how nice the standard settings will print out,,, but then again what do I know I am just a fat ol fisherman. :D
