Boating and Weight

Reading the following link got me wonderring, if I was fishing I won't give a hoot, but since mother nature rules, any whay here is the question.

For all you boat owners and head/charter boat user. Do you take into account that the average person does not weight 140???

on a headboat(worked on them when i was younger)...thay count heads...not weight...we did ask folks to please move to the other side of the boat at times...it did get spooky when we saw a whale to port...and everyone went to port...

has anyone ever asked to make sure their USCG certs are up to date? Made sure the life jackets fit you and that they are easily accesible? How about that EPIRB?

There is a lot of blind trust going on there.
