Bearing ????

Gonna change out bearings in my 6600 c5 and 5600 c4. I know the size is 4x10x4 and the levelwind is 3x7x3. What is the advantage/disadvantage between a bearing with both sides shielded and a bearing with one side exposed?

Also, does anyone have a reliable source for buying bearings, besides the online tackle places? Can't see paying $15+ for a pair when I can get 10 for $25 from one particular site.

I'm interested to hear other opinions on this subject as well.In my experience,I like the one side exposed so excess oil can escape.I'm thinking if you lube and install both side shields,the bearing will be spinning in a bath of oil and slowing it down somewhat.I have both styles and the exposed one definitely cast better.Also easier to flush and lube.

Try checking the Boca Bearings site for bearings.They sell regular steel to full ceramics.
