First time pier fishing

Hello, I will be in North Myrtle Beach the third week in june and was hoping to do some pier fishing for the first time. I have some outfits that I use for catfishing ( penn 310GTI on 9 foot med/heavy rod and an Abu 6600 also on 9 foot med/heavy rod) and was wondering if these would be suitable for using on the pier. As I said this will be my first time pier fishing and would appreciate any help I could get.Thanks in advance......Brian

as long as you have a set up that will get distance and sling metal you should be ok...

they'llbe fine...but are really overkill. A medium size spinning outfit will handle every fish out there but the big boys we get pin rigging
