Well, I know there is a few Hockey fans in here, so who lifts Lord Stanley's Cup this series?
I've been a Canes fan since the move to NC, so that's where my heart is this cup!

WOW:eek: What a freaking unbelievable 3rd period! I watched the entire game and Edmonton dominated the first 2 periods then the last 3 minutes of the 3rd, but a crucile turnover and GAME OVER!
Canes take Game 1

Don't know a dam thing about Hockey. But I do know Canada is like standing on a loft over a great Party. I'll stay down here.

Hate to see a team lose a good player in the Cup, but Edmonton just announced Rolson is OUT FOR THE SERIES with a knee injury due to his own player checking a Cane into him and the post.

The Flyers didn't make it this year. Oh well. I don't like the canadian teams anyway.

I just hope ths port can return to some of its previous glory. I remember in the 80's and early 90's the capitol center used to draw a lot of people even though the caps were not very good. I was there at the 4 overtime playoff loss to the Islanders. That was a GREAT game.
Hockey really is a great sport to watch and one of the few I would rather see live than on TV. I just hope it survives.

Canes will take home the cup.:) I don't think Edmonton stands a chance now that Rolson is gone. He was the biggest reason they made it through the playoffs the way they did, and their other 2 goalies haven't played enough this season to be as sharp as they have to be for the Cup games. Edmonton still has a decent offense, but the key behind their success was the defense. I watch the Canes when they're on TV (rarely here it seems), but I can't say I follow them too well. Couple reasons for me to follow them:
1. I grew up in CT, back when the Canes were the Whalers.
2. I went to school at Clarkson and watched Erik Cole play during his sophomore and junior years in college. Great player then, even better now (too bad he's been out since just after the Olympics due to a cracked vertebrae).
:DGO CANES!!!:D

dang it, where's the third option?
Going to start playing in a local hockey beer league this autumn. Never played before. Rugby was beating me up pretty bad, time to slow things down and take a couple of months of from Rugby.

dang it, where's the third option? I don't get OLN so I don't get to see anything but the highlights. Yeah NHL, good job on getting a contract with a major network... :--|

Ah, great. I just moved my TV's to a house that I'm leasing. I'm stuck at my old apartment right now getting all of the knick knacks that I have left.

I've been all for the Canes the whole way, but the last couple games have been pretty poor on their part, and the Oilers have been stepping it up. The most obvious thing to me was just in the hitting...the Oilers were finishing every hit Sat. night, and the Canes just couldn't get out of their own way. I'll also say that Markinen has been much more impressive than I expected, but their defense is also keeping more of the pucks from getting to him vs the Canes letting Ward handle himself. Here's to hoping that the Canes get it together on home ice and figure it out! Good to see Erik Cole back on the ice too after having 3 months off for a cracked vertebra...very impressive player (I watched him play for a couple years in college before he went pro). Go Canes!!!:D

Canes gotta put the puck on net to test him in goal! Game 6 was a complete disaster!
Cole back was nice to see as he was about the only one who showed up in Game 6.
Tonight's keys to the game from me:
1) Canes gotta put the puck on net!
2) No stupid penalty's!
3) Brindamor needs to show up and win some faceoffs!
4) Crowd needs to be a factor!
GO CANES!

To the Carolina Hurricanes on finally putting away some persistent Oilers tonight
Now Dixie and all the Cane fans can relax and bask in the glow of Lord Stanley's Cup, just to bad it wasn't Detroit, eh :p

WAY TO GO CANES
It's been a long long time since one of my teams has won the big one! I watched every second of this series and as usual I am completly spent, but dang happy the Canes prevailed!
Canes skated much better tonight and finally showed they wanted it. Roddy won faceoffs, D-Men hit, crowd was loud and the puck went on the net!
Hope any old Hartford Whalers fans found a bit of glory in this win as that is where the Canes came from!
Way to take home the cup CAROLINA HURRICANES

GO CANES!!!
Way to wrap it up! Regardless of that first goal, you could tell they had it in them to win tonight. They came out skating well, hitting hard, and showing that they were the team that wanted it the most. Amazing crowd, wishing I was there with some buds of mine that got tickets. Class act, clean game, couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Great choice of MVP...whether they won or lost during the series, it would have been a lot worse had he not been in front of the net. This might have just made my week!

I didn't see this post until today:(
Great playoffs!
Would have rooted for the Canes but they ousted my favorite -Buffalo Sabres- in the conference finals so I then had to pull for the underdog Oilers. :D
I was glad it went 7 games and the fans in both cities were great - unlike some in San Diego who booed the Canadian Anthem.
