Ok, so Dad got an impulse buy from AnglerSupply.com, a sealine 900H. I don't do any fishing that would require a 900h, so we were gonna exchange it for somethin.
I've been lookin to buy a medium jigging rod for walking the beach and throwin lures at snook, ladyfish, and the small tarpon that are close to the beach. Are the solaris rods good quality? Those are the only rods that anglersupply has :(
I don't want to buy one of those walmart wet noodle thick, cheap rods. Something that is easy to handle, quick action, sensitive, responsive, and pretty rigid. I was lookin at the 7' medium rod for 6-15lb. The waves aren't big here and the fish are really close so that's really all I need. I have a Penn Captiva 4000 with 20lb PP that I think would be a good reel. I just wanted to get a concensus of the quality of these rods and see what you guys think about this setup.

I have a 12" Solaris and while I like the blank, the hardware is cheap. Expect the tip to come loose at some point, as well as the butt.
For the money, they're not bad. They throw well. But don't expect a Loomis.

I'm not expecitng a loomis at all. I just want to make sure I'm not going to get one of those flimsy, no backbone, not good for twitching/jigging rods. You guys know what i'm talking about. You know the difference I'm describing here

An 8ft Tica Flats Master with the Penn Captive CLL4000 and love it. I also have an Okuma Solarais 7ft with an Okuma Coronado CD30 and its a great set up. I also have a 12ft Solaris and the 12ft Okuma Longitude. I unlike others have not had a problem at all.

yogai, that 12" Solaris is happiest with about 5-6 ounces. It loads pretty well. I've thrown up to 8 with it, but you run the risk of snapping the tip.
I like the way it loads--like I said, the blank is a good deal for the money.

How's the Longitude? Does it cast better then the Solaris?

I have been using them on the piers since i got them, and really havent had the chance to throw them from the surf yet. Me and a buddy of mine keep talking about throwing some sinkers in a local basball field here and trying both out, just been working around 90 hrs a week lately. But i can tell you that the longitude is a light graphite rod also, you can feel it is heavier than the solaris if you hold each of them. Not by alot but it is noticable. As far as quality in the building, well the solaris has fuji reel seats and fuji guides....the longitude doesnt. Will let you know, i plan on tryin both out in a few days. Hopefully i wont have to work 12 hrs again this sunday.
