Can anyone teel me if it is better to put a mono backing on a spinner reel and then the remainder braid? Or is it better to go all braid?

Stay away from braid. When fishing around others with mono and they have a fish on if the braid were to touch the mono their fish is gone. Braid cuts mono like butter..My 2 cents worth...

That is also a valid arguement for braided line. I sure wouldn't want my mono cut by the guy fishing braided line next to me. ;)
I prefer a full spool of power pro 15lb test.

i think you should put the mono backing then, use braid for two reason. first it prevent the slippage, second you can save alot of your braid line by filling mono most of the spool, then use braid for the last 150 yard to fill the spool.

The backing is good not only for slippage, but also because a layer of mono acts as a cushion to keep the braid from digging into itself.
And as for braid cutting mono- if you use braid then you won't have to worry about someone else's braid cutting your line!

Depends on the reel size. All of my small set ups are all braid. Medium set ups have braid and mono and my surf set ups are all mono. Don't be scared of the braid. If it is crowded where you fish I would not use it. It will cut the mono. If is not crowded I would say go ahead, just announce that you are using braid. That's what I do.

Use the braid man.
I was on a headboat (charter to the southern folks) and heard all the grumblings when I put my rod at the rai. Well I'll tell ya this. My braid was holding with six. The other fishermen were having trouble with eight. I was high hook due to the sensitivity and hooksetting ability.....
While fishing AI (first time) I took my heaver and my SPSP spinners. I was holding with sixes on all my rods. I did have an eight on the OM but that doesn't count. I was catching kingfish on a regular basis because of the lightweight lines and rods. The bites were extremely visible and the hooksets were a breeze.
I didn't cut any mono lines and tangles happened on the headboat quite frequently. I was able to avoid most of em because I had control of my line in 60 ft of water
Braid RULES!!!!:D :D
Did I say I love braid?
Don't leave home without it;)
