Anyone use the suffix braid? I had a 50.00 gift card to dicks and needed some braid for my stradic 4000. So I bought the 30lb suffix. Any comments on the line good/bad

I have been using it in 20lb test, so far it is on my Basia and a Shimano Power Aero (both fixed spool) and have found it more manageable than PP. My Basia is usually good for a wind knot every 20 - 30 casts but it has been clean with the Sufux.

Knot strength and structure is good, the line seems a bit more coarse than PP, it has a more defined weave or "braid" to it.

I like it and plan on buying more.

I just got 300 yards of 30lb. this week. First impression - very good stuff.

I might be switching over from Fireline.

Something I thought I'd never do.

Knots can I still use my uni knot with this line? :eek:

I use Spider to uni for the casting leader and uni's for terminal tackle. 8 or 9 wraps and there's no prob.

So my five wrap uni will work fine to my terminal tackle. Sarg do ya think a double uni will work from the braid to the backing I use dacron for backing.

OK,inquiring minds wanna know.. What would be the reason? Is the diameter smaller? Does it windknot less,cause on mine the fireline windknots once in a blue moon... I'm all for new stuff,but I would just like to hear the reasoning..

Kenny, I don't have a lot of time fishing with the Sufix braid yet. I can't give you an in depth review. However, let me give you a couple of things I noticed right off the bat.

The braid has got a very interesting weave. Very tight. It's softer than Fireline. Slick, too, which makes it cast very well.

The Sufix ties a great knot.

Seems to be as strong ... if not stronger ... than Fireline. Don't quote me on this yet. The jury is still out on this point.

The Sufix is thinner.

Sufix:
20lb = 6lb mono
30lb = 8lb mono

Fireline:
20lb = 8lb mono
30lb = 12lb mono

I don't know how it's gonna be with abrasion resistence. I'll let ya know when I start wrapping my line around the Lesner and CBBT pilings.

No wind knots so far. But I haven't fished it in a strong headwind yet, either.

I'll let ya know more in a few weeks.

Let me know how it goes.. Many bad reports as well as good ones have came out about pp.. I've heard bad reviews on fl also,but I use the stuff and know better.. So far with this product(Suffix Braid),I have heard nothing but good reviews from those that have used it..

Sufix Mono is the best I've ever used, I'm guessin' the braid will be top notch as well. I'll be trying some out when I can get hands on it.:cool:

The Sufix Preformance Braid is the best briad I have found in overall preformance. It has a very tight "round" braid as opposed to some of the flat braids out there.

The braid behaves more like mono than any other I have found. Over 1000 casts and only 2 wind knots both I believe I caused and they were with the 10# .

I was never a big fan of braid on conventional reel but since using the Sufix I'm sold. I use the 50# with no shocker and I preforms outstanding. I also use the braid in 10# 20# and 30# all with the same preformance. The Sufix also is available in a Hi vis yellow and a Low vis green.

I have gien out numerous samples at Surf fishing tournaments and at the recent Sportcast USA "Fishermens Casting Contest" held last weekend. All of my responses have been very positive.

I may be alittle baised since becomming a Sufix Pro Staff angler but I have used their products for years prior to the contract. I would not use or work for a company that I did not believe in or use their products.

Overall I have not recieved any negitive feedback on the line. Most of the feedback I get is from anglers and tackle shops wondering where they can get their hands on it.

Thanks and good luck

I've used pretty much every braid out there, and had settled on Offshore Angler Magibraid as the best of the lot, that's until I used the Suffix. It's so much tighter and smoother than any other braid I've ever used, that I sometimes forget I'm using braid.

I am currently using and comparing Suffix, Calcutta, Power Pro and Spiderwire. I'm not ready to decide which one I will use exclusively; I want to give it a full season before I switch to one brand. As I posted in another "braid" thread:

I recently (mid-May, some 15 outings ago) started using 30# Suffix braid on a spinning set-up. I use a 50# mono leader (connected by a modified Albright knot) and it is backed with 17# mono. I fish the surf. Wind has been from all directions when I've used this line. I've hooked into 2 cow-nose rays and an assortment of blues, kings, weakfish, etc. Thus far, I have not experienced the problems ("windknots", leader-to-main line knot slipping, "ticking" the guides with the leader-main line knot) I've had with other braids (and knots) I used.

I have been using Stren Super Braid now for two years and love the stuff, except price.................anyone got any comments on Stren vs. PP or Suffix? Seems like no one here on the board mentions Stren when talking about braid. The only thing negative I found with Stren is price and the color seems to fade after a full season of use. Anybody have any comments about Stren?

Only two braids i've been using are pp and spiderwire stealth. Originally i went with pp since i always heard about that, but after buying the spiderwire stealth i like it alot better, its easier to get wind knots and tangles out of, since it has a teflon coating. It seems to cast a little easier too.
For cost savings in the long run i've been buying them in different tests in the large spools of 1500 to 2000 yds a spool. I'd like to try some of the other brands but i guess it will be a while before i use up these spools. :rolleyes:
