Went fishing on Sat July 8th from noon to 5. Wanted to fish 3 days in a row but conditions didn't look good but we tried one day and we needed to fit a new trailer.

The water in St. Jerome's creek was murky but not the chocolate milk I expected. They dreged the creek recently which is nice, 6 feet deep was the shallowest.

Headed SE towards the Target Ship...the furhter we got out the cleaner the water. The chanel was green like it was in the begining of June so my hopes were up.

Never saw any topwater action so we trolled lite (relatively) action musky outfits with small Tony Acetas. Cuaght 3 bluefish in about 2 hours. Then I saw what I was looking for: fish busting the surface, hooray! As I got the lines in and let the school swim to us we noticed it was a real good class of big fish. Then it got closer and closer. What we were watching was a pod of damn dolphins. Never seen this kind before. They had a white tips on the leading edge of the dorsel fin, were smallish mammals and spouted like little whales. When we see them they are usually the big grey ones. Oh well.

Head due north on the way back up to PNP light looking for birds. Saw none, just a bunch of horny rays. Headed due west back to the creek and about a mile west of the chanel we encountered our first aglae bloom of the year. Redish is color, not billowing but definitley not mud water. Rays didn't seem to mind it but there was no action at all at the light house where a rockfish or 20 can usually be jigged up.

Got out of the bloom and headed home, saw a few pods of LY near the creek mouth which is promising. Water wasn't as bad as I thought it would be less the bloom which I tried t report but the DNR page is differnet now. I think the lack of catching was becuase of Omega 2 weeks before. Trying harder next weekend.
