Mr. Administrator, Why is it that I can not edit my posts.
What do you have to do to be able to post pictures?
I like the forum but it seems silly that I can't edit my posts.

I believe it may come back in the future. I am not sure if this buletin board software allows user level control of who gets to edit and who doesn't. If it does then flea may choose to go that route. Mayeb only paid subscribers could use it or something like that.

You could put the edit function on a timer so that after 24 hours before you can not edit. This way you can go Opppsss and fix a mistake. It really seems silly that the edit function was removed because some one abused the function. Would not it be better to remove the transgressor after fair warning? Or were they editing someone else’s post? Can they do that?
I do not know who or how the bills are paid for this board. I know it is not cheep. The owner has the right to do as he or she likes with the board. They pay the bills. I have seen other boards go down hill because of reactions to abuse of the board. It is my hope that this will not be the case here.

What about a followup message saying what the goof up was? I don't see where the ability to edit is so important. We can all lauhg at out tpyos, right? ;)

A few folks were using the edit feature to stir up trouble, then going back and changing their words after the trouble had been stirred up.
Just like in the real world, we all have to live with what we say. My hope is that everything we post will be carefully considered. There's no harm in being more thoughtful before posting.
Besides, it'll stop people from saying, "F-you jerk!" and then going back and changing it and playing innocent.

Many people do think it's important.

Even I have started to learn to hit Preview Post and reread what I am posting before hitting the point of no return,,, also called "Submit Reply"
I am sure when the time is right the edit feature will be restored,,, I still think there ought to be a box at the top of each post [X] Been Drinking [X] Sober :D

If flea is anything like me then he won't turn the edit feature back on. The more people complain about and ask for the edit button, the less likely I would be to turn it back on - just out of spite! However, I am sure that flea will take the higher road and do this when he feels it is time. In the meantime, do what shooter said and get use to using the preview button, then submit your post. Or, just get use to making mistakes that everyone can see!

I always hit the preview button and read my post before submitting...and I STILL miss the edit feature  ! I'd rather have a string of goofy posts explaining the previous post...than no posts at all though... .

Exactly!
It's not just for correcting mistakes, but adding ideas or something else you forgot.

No problem Hat! Yes thats just what I was trying to say. I make mreo tpyos than most ;) But I like the idea of:
1) having the opportunity to LOL at how some of the typos turn out - even if they arent saying what was trying to be said :)
2) deny folks from posting before thinking and then "taking it back". In the real world we have to think before we speak right? No need to be different here. Let folks conduct themselves the way they want to be perceived. If someone makes a comment he didnt mean he can explain it later, not act like it never happened, right?
I'm a newbie here and respectfully put the complaints of those who have been part of this thing for longer than me ahead of my own $.02, but if I wasnt going to pipe in from time to time I would not have registered :D
This is a great board. I'm just happy to be a prt of it.
Cheers.

A lot of times people scroll down to the last message they read, adn then start reading the new ones. If you changed your post, they might miss that extra idea that was added. If it's added when you thought about it, they will read it for sure!
Personally, until I land that big one, I can't afford to miss anything ;)
Cheers.

I delt with this at a different level than most of you. Let me tell you it made my life a .... well I really can't say that here.
I do like the edit feature but maybe with a 10 min limit. So you can fix a problem with your post but not alter after others have posted on the thread which makes things really bad and confusing to boot.

Think there could be a setting to always to default to [X] Been Drinking? :D

I respect any decision flea makes. Since
we are putting our .02 in I will say that
we should punish the abusers not everyone
across the board.

I don't think we really need the edit function. For all of you stat lovers, you get to pump up your post count! Yeah, there are times I make typos and want to go back and edit them, but it's nothing to sweat. If we're so much the perfectionist, wouldn't we get it right the first time instead of editting it? Chicken or egg...
