Hey everybody, I am Jeff from NC.

first question.
I was in my local tackle shop and planning on buying my first long surf rod. Currently my arsenal only consist of small 7 and 8 foot rods. I had my hands on a;Tica
UEHA733502C 11' H Surf Casting 15 - 40 3 - 8
For the time being I plan on just using an AG 6500 that I have until I decide on a long casting reel. I got a 6500 from the shop owner to see how it felt on the rod. The weird thing was the reel fit was very loose in the reel seat. I would think that the 6500 is plenty big for the rod but it was very loose. Is there a good way to make the fit tighter. What are my options.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

a rod clamp should remedy that problem. not sure if abu makes them but i'm sure there would be one avail a your local tackle shop or better yet bass pro shops would definately have it.

I had the same problem with mine. When I got it the Penn 525 did not want to tighten up. I looked at it and it was not srewed all the way down tight. There is a tight spot about 1/2 down but she tightened up nicely after that spot.

I have a squidder on the tica 11' now and it had the same tight spot. No clue why it is like that.

It it it remains loose I would take the rod back.

Jeff what are you paying for the Tica. I live in Apex and I have a Penn Pro Guide Series Surf Rod that is slightly used for sale. It is $159 new and Ill take $100 for it. I started with the Tica and then went to the Penns. Now I have the Custom bug.
This rod is the pgs2040c12. This means 12 ft conventional weighted from 4-12 oz. Great rod for the money. Post reply or pm me if you are interested.
Thanks
Jeb
