rescue workers showed up.

Police: T.O. tried to kill himself

By JAIME ARON, AP Sports Writer
September 27, 2006

DALLAS (AP) -- Flamboyant Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide by overdosing on pain medication, even putting two more pills into his mouth after fire rescue personnel arrived.

A Dallas police report released Wednesday morning said Owens told rescue workers "that he was depressed." The report was first released by WFAA-TV.

The rescue worker "noticed that (his) prescription pain medication was empty and observed (Owens) putting two pills in his mouth," the police report said.

The worker attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. The worker then asked Owens "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, `Yes."'

Any reference on this?

Heard it on XXX Sports (92.7). They are
basing this on his statement to the police
so there should have been disclaimer
on their part. They stated that he had
confirmed it and then 15 min later they
said..."based on the police report"...

Cool, thanks for clearing that up. My thought on his comments to the police is, if he is having an alergic reaction, he might not have really understood what was going on. I've seen my cousin have an alergic reaction to some meds and it was like he was tripping and really thought the gerbils were cooking dinner??? I've never done any illegal drugs, but I've always wondered what gerbils would cook for dinner ever since then.

there are over 1600 members in the NfL and one in every 10 americans suffers from depression I believe there are a few more players with mental health conditions and due to T.O's celebrity status an unfortunate illness has become a media circus and other players will keep there conditions hidden even more.
Also he was asked in the past to seek therapy by two of his previous team's coaching staff. He refused and this a fact.

The Cowboys are doing their press
conference now and it is very strange.
Parcells is saying that the reporters
probably know more about the situation
then he does. He says that he has not
talked to him and does not even know
where he is.

why now when its looking as if all is looking better for him? why not last year when everyone it seemed like hated him? i wonder what the root of this problem is?

"M", well first of all, suicide attempt or not, this
is the circus you get with T.O. Which is
why I am glad the skins did not want him.

Parcells is spending EVERY press conference
talking about TO. Must be real fun for
a head coach of an NFL team....

The shocking thing to me was that
Parcells did not even know anything
and that TO had scheduled his own
press conference without even letting
his own team know what is going on.:D

Takes a whole bottle of pills and then shows up for practice? Not likely. More like th press blowing everything out of proportion. Not that that has ever happened before....

Check out the police report for yourself and come to your own conclusion. Not saying the LEO's perception is absolutely correct...

I think that the press gets a pass on this
one since they reported what was on the
police report. Don't know about you but
I am more inclined to believe the story of the
rescue workers in this case than the
word of TO and his "publicist".

Bottom line is that he OD'd on his prescription
pills. He even admitted that he took
a few pills and then turned around and
took a few more with his other supplements.
When asked, he could not say exactly
how many more he took. Presciption pain
medication is not something most people
take like M&Ms. :)
