The following comes from Larry’s Lines (Larry Hardham) in the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club newsletter.

Please take a few moments and write a short letter to Superintendent Mike Murray with a copy to me at the Club stating one or all of the following:

1. why you enjoy Cape Hatteras National Seashore,
2. why you come here,
3. why you moved here, or, conversely,
4. why you will do none of the above.

The reason for this request is that Negotiated Rule Making will be starting soon and these letters could be a tremendous help to our cause.

Apathy seems to be one of our major problems and if you enjoy driving our beaches please help. We must have a large number of these letters.

Mail to:
Mike Murray, Superintendent
Cape Hatteras National Seashore
1401 National Park Drive
Manteo NC 27954

or

Email: mike_murray@nps.gov

Copy to:

Cape Hatteras Anglers Club
P.O. Box 145
47231 Light Plant Road
Buxton, NC 27920

or

Email: CHAC@capehatterasanglersclub.org

Thank you.

consider the response to my query about access to the Frisco/Hatteras village beaches.

Mr. Murray was ready to take on the eviornmentalists but is inclined to defer this matter. Clearly, for those of you that read the comments on the reg. neg. committee composition, the people who would like to see ORV's restricted have made their views known. If you want to maintain the ORV access we used to have prior to the Belli admisintration, you must make your voices heard.

I've never visited that area...but I want to some day!

My note to Mr Murray:

Mr. Murray,

I am writing you in regards to the upcoming decisions that will be made concerning beach access. I am an angler who enjoys driving out on the beach, and staying for a few days in pursuit of some fish for the freezer, and an overall good time. I have introduced many individuals (including my 4 children) to this recreational pastime, and will be introducing two more individuals next week (Oct. 25-29). Maintaining open access to our nations beaches is a very important thing. I fear my children (and grandchildren) will never know the same joys I have as it is! Denying (or restricting) public access to our coastal waters will forever change the character of our country. Change IS inevitable, however certain aspects of that change are within our control. Please take these thoughts into consideration as you debate the topics raised concerning this issue in the upcoming negotiations.
