I think you need to edit your post. I know you aren't looking for spinning spinners :p
You lloking for a rod/reel/ or the combination thereof
For me I like the Tica UHEA and Tica Dolphin spinners in whatever size fits you best. For the reel I like the Daiwa Emcast (The Emblem is nicer but pricey) at least for my budget.
I do not have an OM or OM CapePoint spinner (only conventional) but I have a feeling they would be great as well.
Remember ... if you need a HEAVER (6-12 oz) Everyone on this forum will back me up when I say go conventional.
My Tica 12' UHEA 4-8oz with Emcast does me real well.

:--| You right... I love my open face reels. I'm tooking to add one spinning combo to collection. Persnally I perfer spinning during night fishing... I went to a local tackel shop, and they all said the Emblem was a nice reel... But they really like the CABO. They said the CABO is quallity was only second to the Van Staal. The best all aound saltwater reel for the money... But, I want to get a reel that's designed for distance... I have a Baitrunner 4500b with 30lb test power pro. Can someone with both explain to me the difference in a regular saltwater reel, and a distance saltwater reel...

Most of the distance designed spinning reels are identified by a long tapered spool. For example, the Daiwa Tournament Basia 45QD has the longest spool (45 mm) and forward tapered. Most of the other truly long cast spools are 35 mm. The emblem Pro has a 35 mm spool with ABS design (reverse tapered). It's been my experience that the forward tapered design provides the best distance. I've conducted extensive tests using the Basia 45QD, 30lb braid (PP) and I'm able to get 4-7 yards more distance with the 45mm spool as compared to 35 mm forward tapered spool (e.g. Daiwa Tournament ISO 5000 or Daiwa Tournament SS3000)......all using rainshadow 1569 rod.....best distance has been 635 feet (unofficial but close, using OTG casts). Using mono significantly cuts back that distance. I believe the Tournament Entoh 6000 also has a 45 mm spool...as I recall, Sgt Slough owns a 6000 and has done extensive testing as well (I do not). I've owned a couple of the 35mm reverse tapered reels (e.g. Daiwa Emblem Z 5000) but have not been very successful with achieving maximum distance..(as compared to Basia 45QD). The ISO 5000 offers other advantages as power/durability and more line capacity. In fact, because of this greater distance using equipment identified above, I'm going back to using spinning more often. (Best distance with conventional has been about 610 feet (Penn 525 mag and 13'6' 1509 Allstar)..........my experiences only, don't claim others will have same..........

So what's the difference in cost?

The Basia is around (little less than) $400, available only from Japan, as is the ISO 5000 (around $350). I believe the Emblem Pro, readily available in the states is around $134. Daiwa has a new Saltiga Surf spinner available in the states for around $389. According to the specs, I believe this is the same reel as the Tournament ISO with a color change.
There's a direct correlation between price and weight....the Basia and ISO weigh around 17.7 oz while the Emblem Pro is much heavier at 24.? oz...........I believe weight can be a factor in ultimate distance casting, but should be minimal for routine fishing conditions......

I concur with everything dsurf said; the long spool reels are the performers for distance.
Braid is the way to go too, thin running line 20 or 30lb running line and shocker of course. Going heavier than that is not reaping all the distance enhancing quality of braid.
Another reel to look at is the Shimano Power Aero; I have two and they are excellent casters, very durable and stong 33lb drags. It comes in dollar wise between the high end Daiwas and the Emcast / Emblem series. Some sellers on eBay have them for as little as $160. Worth every cent!
