I need a MH 7' conventional rod that I can use for inshore, mainly fishing on a kayak, pier and jetties. Don't want to go to custom... just a decent rod around 75 to 150 dollars. I need something that is sensitive but have some muscle that can pull a tog...

Thinking about putting Daiwa SHA20 on it. No metion of Shakespear Uglies please...

Bass Pro has good rods, also check out Star, and Crowder. I LOVE my Star Stellars, and they are 100 bucks each, so pretty reasonable.

I have 2 Crowder E-Series 7'3" rated 3/4 to 4 oz. NICE rods that'll handle anything short of Jaws. These are a little heavy for 'Yak use casting, but they'd be great for soaking/drifting bait. Little pricier, though, at 155 bucks each.

Good luck in your search for that "Perfect Rod"!! That's half the fun of fishing, to me!

BTW, Bass Pro's rods are made by Star Rods, but are much cheaper. ;)

Just because they don't cost over a $100 doesnt mean that they suck....if you have a chance and want to save money.. check out the lite models....just feel it....It has never let me down....and for about $50 you can put that extra money toward a reel....at least give the Lite model a chance....it doesnt even feel like the regular ugly stick...they also make a "lite" model in the tiger model:cool: I've got a few of the Uglystik Lites and for $39.99 you can get a 6'6" Mh that makes a great all around rod .

Its the black ones with the metallic blue lettering, a pic of a pup and cork grips. The rod I refer to cost less than $40.00

just order bunch of stuff from Randy at Baitshack. Two rods were ordered

1. Basspro Offshore AnglerŪ Inshore Extreme Casting Rod, MH, 3/8-2oz, 7' length
2. Bass Pro Shops Graphite Series Muskie Rod, 5/8-4oz, 6' 2" length

Ordered a SHA20 to interchange between the rods, one will be cast lures and other for tog fishing... thanks for all the recommendations.

one more thing, before you put in that order to Bass Pro, give Randy a PM or a call. He can get Bass Pro stuff for a good price. :)

Yea Randy has always done me right and usually can get whatever you need and meet or beat any price.

Oh yea if fishing from a yak no need for anything to pricey as you could lose it :D:D:D:D ask Howie LOL

In response to Bass n Around's recommendation for either a Tica or Bass Pro brand. I've had an 8foot Tica for 6 years with no problems, but my oldest Son had a problem with a Bass Pro Series rod that broke while casting, and Bass Pro would not make it good! Just my 2 cents worth. John
