Admin!!! How about changing the time allowed to edit a post to 24hours? I tried to edit a post I just made and because it took me over 5 mins for me to make the changes then to proof read what I edited, I wasn't allowed. 5 mins just isn't enough.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what forums you're posting on but the other forums I visit don't seem to have a time limit. I've edited posts a day or two later because I didn't bother to go back right away. I've seen others edit sometimes weeks later for whatever reason. The catch is that everytime it's edited it tags that date/time of edit for readers to know when and how often it was done.

If you're wondering why at times I and other might not edit right away, it's because sometimes we don't realize a link is bad. As for this last time, I went to edit some grammer but when I started I added 2 more paragraphs once I started. Which I didn't end up doing because I didn't want to retype after the timeout message.

A few BBS I visit have no allowance for editing, just deleting.

If you are writing long posts, try writing on your word processor, edit, then cut & paste to the BBS.

I think the edit is too short, but think 5 minutes is long enough. If it were longer it could lead to abuse by miscreants looking to stir up trouble. It would make the moderators job much more time consuming.
