Wish I could take credit for this but I can't. A man caught this on the West Coast. I was quite impressed - I have never seen a lobster this big!

RD - he used your compound butter recipe and said it was delicious!

The bigger they are, the worse they taste.

You may be right, but I believe he would disagree with you. He said it was delicious!

...with the larger lobsters taste bad. I have had many 9+lb Maine lobsters and they were delicious! If you have a large one that is tough or tastes bad, find someone else to cook it! It is much easier to overcook (assuming you first know how to cook lobster) a large one than a small one is all it is. At least from this lobster lovers view.

They're like most finfish, the bigger they get (past a certain size) the tougher and less tasty they are. Best size to eat is in the 1 1/2 - 2 lbs range.

I agree with Sarge and JB,the bigger ones are a little tougher and not quite as tasty.

Sooo...I'll have 2 of the smaller ones, with butter and I want my steak rare, not realy cooked, just give it a tan.:D

Regardless of how it tasted if I kept it, I think I would just be excited to get one that big! Isn't that why people try for the big fish? :D

Not familiar with the West Coast lobsters, but the spinies from down south are delicious. I like them much better than the Atlantic lobsters from up north.

So Britt, were you on this lobstering expedition?

No, I was in SC when this was caught. I was just impressed at how big these things got. It may be normal to get lobsters that big, but I've never seen it before! Never been lobstering before but might have to give it a try!
