I've got no clue. I don't know anything about them other than what the box says in the pic.
Sorry.

The main difference is that it's a cool black and gold reel that you can't just go out and buy anywhere....;)
Mechanically, it's a standard ABU international type reel. Three bearings, two in the spool, and one IAR (instant anti-reverse).
The difference is, that instead of a palming left sideplate with a single adjuster for the spool tension on the right, this thing has adjusters on BOTH sides, which allows the spool to be centered with the right knob and tensioned with the left. Better balance, and more precise tension adjustment.
It also has an all-metal clicker assembly, instead of plastic, or none in the case of "normal" 5500s.
Some say the bearings are a higher grade, but I'm not sure I believe that. It'll be getting a dual levelwind bearing set, and smoothie drags if they can still be had.
The reel normally retails at $119.00, so it's a great deal....I can't believe nobody but me saw it...

Hey that reel sounds really neat....Hey, Have you ever noticed the 7500c3ct's that come out of Thailand being sold on Ebay? They are supposedly so rare, but somehow they are always being sold. From what I understand (which is really very little) that these reels are casting demons. Wouldn't mind having one one of these days, but just a little concerned about the product from Thailand. Are the reels still produced by Abu, and just not to the US or what. Any idea?

Man, seems like more stuff on that reel to go wrong on you. But should work well on the kayak!

It pays to know prices for equipment when you shop where the employees have no idea what they are dealing with.

Yep, KB...
I've fished the CRAP out of that reel I got from ya...It's caught me many flounder, trout, and reds this year. Responsible for a couple of big reds, and several inshore slams.
I thought it needed a twin....:)

Geesh...wher'd ya get that 320? Maybe I can find some stupid clerks down here too! Kind of related to another thread, but I went into a local pawn shop looking for reels. Saw a Van Staal VS200 in mint condition with only a small scratch on the side plate for $200. Left my Credit card at the house...went back to get it and came back and a guy was standing at the counter buying it!!! Dang it!!!

I got the 320 at Walmart and the International at Dick's. I didn't want to buy the Int'l, but I knew as long as the price sticker was on the side of it I could probably argue because it was locked in the case and had to be their mis-price. The guy didn't question it at all, carried it to the front and then gave me an extra 20% off the $139 because it was a display and they didn't have the box. I'm happy, the box will end up in th trash anyway.
I'll take advantage of a bargain when I see it. It's not the shopper's fault if the guy selling expensive stuff is only qualified to stock Rice Crispies.
As the old saying goes....
