I was just sitting here at work thinkin about buying another heaver and I was thinking about the reel. There is so little options when trying to find a left handed casting reel. I don't want an Avet. I like my Abu which has been converted to a non level wind magged and new bearings and a bunch of upgrades but I want another reel but I want something different then an Abu. Why cant they make a penn 525 for us or something? Any other lefties feel my pain?

for me.. reeling in a conventional with my right hand (for some reason) feels more natural. when working spinning reels, the opposite is fine as well. i don't know... maybe i'm just cool like that. my suggestion... adapt and overcome!! its worked for me.

yeah, I understand- would love for them to come out with left handed 525.
I cast left handed but have gotten use to reeling with right hand. However for tourny casting it would be great to have a left hand reel- would make it much easier to adjust mag control as weight is flying thru the air.
Oh well what can you do- I understand manufacterer is reluctant to design equipment for a minority- sales will not likely be enough to recover R&D costs. Run into the same situation in golf equipment and such.

The technology doesn't have to be any different just same guts with new endplates, I know there will have to be some parts that are made for the left hand version ( some gears, endplates, etc.) But really its pretty much the same thing. I think a company to come out with a good surfcasting reel for lefties will have the monopoly on the lefthanded market. Penn and Dawia for the most part have all or most of the business for surfcasters with conventional reels. If Penny came out with one then it would pull the true lefties from other companies that make a left handed reel but requires a lot of mods to make it sutable for surf casting. For instance my Abu 6501. I bought it then I had to upgrade and lube the bearings, replace the plastic clog, which removed my clicker, CT bars, mag. It just sucks that you just can't buy a reel and use it right outta the box. Like you can with the Penn 525 supermag. All that I am saying is that I would like a reel to come out in a lefthanded version that can be used right outta the box. Not saying that I would upgrade and fool around with it but I would just like to not have too.
