Alirght ladies, who has the best wings? Here's my review of some places around northern VA. Rate it by 0 to 5 stars, 5 being best. :)
1. Glory Days (4 stars) - they have three flavors (Hot, Honey Mustard and Glory). Glory is the best flavor and they do make it right by making the wings crispy, not soggy.
2. Clydes (5 stars) - Upscale restaurant compared to others but they do have some good buffalo wings. Very crisp and the buffalo sauce is excellent. And the wings got some meat to them. Good service also.
3. Dominos (3 stars) - Their wings are oven baked. I enjoy their hot sauce, the wings need to be drenched in their sauce.
4. Papa John's (0 stars) - Order it once and will never order again.
5. Pizza Hut (0 stars) - see Papa John's.
6. Buffalo Wing Factory (3 1/2 stars) - They got over 30 flavors I think. Their basic buffalo was decent so I gave it 3 1/2 stars.

Ok, I'm kinda throw this together. I don't follow recipe portion, just goes along when I'm cooking.
Season wings w/ granulated garlic, Tony's Creole seasoning for about 2 hours before you fry them. In the mean while, prepare the sauce.
Sauce:
1 bottle Crafts Spicy Honey BBQ
1 bottle of your favorite dark beer.
1/4 cup of good honey
1/4 cup of hotsauce (more if you please)
Reduce the sauce by 1/3 to half, until the consistency that you like.
Fry wings in peanut oil until golden brown. Pour sauce over hot fried wings, toss wings to cover in sauce, add more hot sauce if needed. Serve immediately. No dipping sauce needed. It's finger linking good. :D
Oh, wings taste very good w/out sauce also. That Tony's Chachere Creole is good stuffs.
BTW, if honey, bbq, beers, and hot sauce aint your thing, this is not something you'd like.

I really like the Buffalo Wing Factory....particularly the 911 wings. Tried the Torrid Zone and Flatliner but frankly, too hot. I like the heat but if you can no longer taste the other flavors, what's the point!?! 911 gives you the heat and the spice flavors...GOOD STUFF!!
Now Teo, you've got to share those spicy honey BBQ wings you make... :p :p

Lone Star's "texas hot" wings are pretty good...they get you ready for that nice 20 oz. T-bone cooked medium-rare...mmm:D :D :D ...but i like frying my own in house autry's medium hot breader and then coating "ken's steak house" buffalo marinade...also mmm:D :D :D

I need to add four more reviews:
1. Ruby Tuesdays (3 stars): Decent wing with some meat to them. Wings are deep fried but sometimes they come soggy. Buffalo sauce is the same sauce they use for the buffalo chicken sandwich.
2. Outback (2 1/2 stars): I believe their wings are oven baked. The wings itself are not traditional buffalo wings. Whatever they put on there, its too salty for me.
3. Chillis (2 1/2 stars): Wings are decent. Could be better, quality is too inconsistant for me.
4. Champs (5 stars): Excellent wings, has some meat to them. They are deep fried with traditional buffalo sauce. Serving amount is pretty good. I usually get wings here as my main dish.

Absolute worst wings = Wing Stop. Don't know how they stay in business. Wings are soggy and nasty...
When I lived in Georgia, they had a bunch of places that had all you can eat wing night. i don't remember the names, but they were all better than the wings I've had here in MD.
Oh yeah, speaking of good wings, does anyone also like breasts? If so, hooters has decent wings as well as breasts... :D

I think the Wing Factory wings are one of the best. The one in Sterling is better than the one in Ashburn. Their Eastern shore wings are great.
Also, Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill make good wings.

The two best pleaces for wings I've found in Hampton Roads are in Portsmouth.
Naw, they ain't as good as the Anchor Bar in Buffalo. (The place that started it all - and the best wings I've ever had.) But these are best I've found in SE Virginia.
My favorite is Amazing Wings at Alexander's corner in Ptown. That's 4206 Portsmouth Blvd., just down the road from the Baitshack. If you're going to see Randy, stop by and get some of these wings. It's worth the stop. Huge wings and a great sauce. Medium hot is good. Hot is better.
The second place is Hot Wings at 3566 Towne Point Road. This is near Town Point Pub and the Post Office. The guy that opend the shop was from Buffalo. Last time I was in there they had changed owners. Now you get fried rice with your wings. Not the same quality of wings as it used to be, sad to say.

Sativa means well, but is mis informed about the best wings in MB, because it is not BeefO'Brady's. The best wings in MB are at either Pig N Chicken or TGI Fridays in the inlet, especially on Tues. (they are free!)

Try it and you wont regret it. If I were closer, I'd bring over some beers. Oh, I forgot to mention, sauce seems thicker when it's cold, so just reheat it if you have extra, add a more beer if needed.

Mine is the best... I don't like the wings or drums.. I use trimmed breasts and it if close to how crawfish does it.. We used to make them in college and called them Flaming Hoops. Think and the name will make sense.

Yeah, I got that.... The rest of them are going to be 1/2 price (or $.25 apeice) at HH so I wan't really factoring in price since they are all cheap. J.D.'s Pig and chicken is a great joint for Q and it wouldn't surprise me if their wings were good too. We make ours with a garlic/habenero that goes into the blender and onto the wings before and after baking.

Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees.
You want just enough oil to cover the wings entirely -- an inch or so deep at least. Combine 1/2 cup butter butter, 1 bottle of Crystal Wing Sauce , 1 bottle of Pic-A-Peppa Jamaican Sauce ,ground pepper, and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat. Heat until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well blended.
Combine the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt in a small bowl.
If the wings are frozen, be sure to defrost and dry them.
Put the wings into a large bowl and sprinkle the flour mixture over them, coating each wing evenly.
Put the wings in the refrigerator for 60 to 90 minutes.
(This will help the breading to stick to the wings when fried.) Put all the wings into the hot oil and fry them for 10 to 15 minutes or until some parts of the wings begin to turn dark brown.
Remove the wings from the oil to a paper towel to drain.
But don't let them sit too long, because you want to serve the wings hot. Quickly put the wings into a large bowl.
Add the hot sauce and stir, coating all the wings evenly.
You could also use a large plastic container with a lid for this.
Put all the wings inside the container, add the sauce, put on the lid, then shake. Serve with Bleu cheese dressing and celery sticks on the side:D

Just made some wings last night in the turkey fryer for the game. Used some Texas Pete wing sauce, and experimented with some home made stuff. I like cooking.
Food Lion has a deal on chicken wings right now. Hit them up if you want to stock up.
Marinade...
One part soy sauce
two parts water
two crushed garlic cloves
drop of asian sesame oil (asian pertaining to the roasted kind)
a good squeeze of honey
some cracked black pepper
Let that soak for about 4 hours.
Pull them out, pat them dry. Water and hot grease aren't best buds...
Fry them till they float and scoop them up. Let them drip dry on a cookie cooling rack. Smack dog's nose as he tries to take a drumette. Throw them back in the fryer again for 90 seconds to crisp them up.
Make the marinade again, but forego the water and garlic this time. Mix the cooked wings in that and shove them in to a bowl. These wings won't be sticky and covered in some jelly like sauce. I was going to do a batch with some plum sauce, but didn't have any in the house and I don't know how to make it by scratch.

CrawDaddy,
Just made some wings according to your recipe. Its delicious... sauce came out dark and shiny making wings looking great. Too good to eat. Going to have to tweak some stuff to make it little more asian, maybe adding some soy sauce and korean chili paste... definitely keeping the dark beer, used guiness... gets hot when the oil is boiling, guiness was good cold...
now, how do I get rid of the oil stench...

Couple of tips on making Buffalo Wings.
1) Deep fry them in either Canola or Peanut Oil for best results. Whichever you like best.
2) Don't overcrowd your grease. Fry them in small groups for best results.
3) Warm your hot sauce on the stove before plunkin' yer wings in it.
***For a very good wing sauce that's easy to find, try Franks REDHOT Cayenne Pepper Sauce. Add 1/3 cup butter or margarine for evary 1/2 cup of Frank's. It's much better than Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce that comes in a jar.
***If you bread your wings, you should be shot.

If any of you are near a Wild Wings Cafe, my favorite flavor there is Jojo's Red Dragon Wing. Reminds me of something RuddeDogg would conjure in a jiffy. Tastes of teriyaki with crushed red pepper flakes and some pineapple juice.
