My girlfriend is letting me pic the rod n reel i get for christmas and these are what i have narrowed down too

Abu 6601(lefthanded is the 01)
or
Oceanmaster 4000
or any other options u guys might throw at me

if i get the abu im going to be getting an outer banks rod because i work at boaters world n get a good discount of them

i want to use it for tossing mir0lures, storms, gotchas and freshwater jigs n crank baits too

i just cant decide , im leaning to the abu cause of how they feel, and i like that its made in sweden n not china or somewhere

any opinions would be much appreciated

Get the Abu. I find that the Bass Pro brands of reels tend to lack in quality, that's why they're so cheap.

all the way no comparsion ....... and there are alot of tricks you can do to an Abu

now to decide on the rod, medium casting, or medium heavy casting, or any other suggestions?

im looking to spend under a 100 dollars on the rod, i really want another st croix but i dont think she will get that one for me

Go abu over the BPS reel...but ya mightwanna look at a 5000 class abu instead of a 6000

why the 5000 over the 6000?

A 5500 will do better for what you listed to fish for. 8'-9' for the salt, and you can use the same reel on a shorter rod for your freshwater crankbaits and jigs.

i ordered the 6601 today so will see how i like it, i went to the larger one cause i like to fish for sharks n the extra line will help so i can back it, if i dont like it i can always return it since i work at the BW(we take back anything, but dont tell anyone)
